Hey you know what, Kayle dealing true damage at level 16 is okay

Z3Sleeper··114 votes·24,209 views

It's about time we got a real scaling champ again. She has the weakness of actually being melee levels 1-10 and her attack speed is locked behind a Rageblade effect until level 16. That's what a scaling champion should look like.

However, I really hope she doesn't have Yasuo's version of a "bad early game" cuz then everything I said above doesn't mean anything.

Yasuo doesn't exactly have a bad early, but the thing is that he pushes way too much. Which means jungle ganks, just camp him because unless the other person has even better wave pushing(Malzahar) he will always be pushed to their tower(unless he's playing safe which most Yasuo's don't do).

Or the player could not be braindead, and not push too much, and instead freeze with the pressure and threat range he can exert in many match ups, and the safety of his incredible mobility + passive shield + windwall + CC + passive refresh on ult.

I meant that Yasuo naturally pushes with his q. It's kind of impossible to harass without hitting minions with q. If you just last hit, then Yasuo will naturally push. You said that he has his ult and cc, that is only possible with hitting q's on minions(even if you just use your abilities on the champ you will still push due to the minions going for you). There is no way that Yasuo cannot push unless he absolutely never uses his q which basically means that you can bully him into his turret. And his q isn't the only way that he pushes, when he uses his dashes, that also pushes, if he e's through minions and eq's you, the minions will still harass him and with e damage, will still push the lane. Most of the things you mentioned above only happens if he pushes. By the way, i'm not saying he does have a bad early, he has a pretty good early, but he can't win a 2v1 with no kills.

He won't naturally push if he's only last hitting with his Q unless you're not trying to farm at all. If both of you are only last hitting then you'll likely freeze the wave and if he's only last hitting and you're clearing with abilities then you'll likely push into him. A good Yasuo would be able to do this without problem. The only reason they would not be only last hitting and pushing the wave in is if they're planning to roam, planning to recall, or just bad.

Yeah, most Yas's I've seen don't do that at all. But wouldn't freezing your lane help your jungler gank? Another thing that I'm gonna say because absolutely no one took this point in hand(not you though),Yas doesn't have a bad early, I literally said that in every post in here.

theChibiTina1 votes

It would depend on where he freezes it. I've only seen it in streamer's content though. I'm in low elo where most people don't even know the meaning of the words freeze the lane and the enemies are so insistent on pushing the lane that it makes it really difficult for me to freeze. I do get to slow push though because most of the time they see an enemy go clear a few minions in a lane and leave without thinking much of it until there's a giant wave on their tower. lol. The wave was still in the same spot at the time so they focused on where the enemies were. It's funny when they lose a tower this way too.

That applies to literally any champion ever. EVERY champion is weak against a 2v1 (unless you're maybe Illaoi) and that will never be considered a meaningful form of counterplay.

Also let's not pretend Yasuo actually pushes, and doesn't just duel the laner with the minion wave behind him so he can E away to his turret.

Okay, let's give a few champs that actually won't give a shit if you camp them. Talon This guy is so goddamn mobile that with anyone that is good with Talon won't be hit with cc, he becomes untargetable with his ult, and he does a lot of damage early. That combined with the fact that he roams early makes camping him pretty much useless unless it's before 6 and he's extremely pushed up. Illaoi Yeah, this champ needs no explanation. Nasus If you camp this guy, that basically means he's bad and pushes the lane instead of either freezing the lane or farming in tower. Unless he gets a triforce and is against a pretty easy lane.

Ok, if you fight the enemy laner, what happens the minions start attacking you, and usually the player backs away, which means Yasuo follows. Which means that the minions also push. The logic of him pushing a lot is more easily applied to top lane than mid lane/bot lane. And for the fourth time in a row, I said Yasuo is not bad early game.

Spicy Rice4 votes

He doesn't have a bad level 1-2. Most fighters/tanks can beat him level 3 onwards.

His midgame is what is bad, due to having to invest in full damage and teleporting into the enemy team when ulting.

FilDaFunk2 votes

I'm not sure how a melee champ teleporting into the enemy champ is a weakness.

Spicy Rice3 votes

You dont understand how someone like yasuo teleporting into a rammus could be bad? Lulu? Malz? etc.

In the midgame, yasuo doesn't have any real defensive items due to how his kit works and the items it forces him to buy. At this point in the game, any amount of hard cc results in him getting oneshot.

NSFWaifus3 votes

if you get a good gank early at level 1 by letting yas push up its pretty much always a free kill tho

One352 votes

Isn't this the case for most champions, with some being even more gankable early than Yasuo?

NSFWaifus1 votes

I would say yes but setting yasuo in specific behind that one kill will do damage to not only him but his morale a lot of yasuos are prideful idiots and will play stupid while behind, mainly in lower elos like iron - gold. i know this cause i was that yasuo for a bit tbh.

I also hope her passive is “on-attack” instead of “on-hit” so Rageblade isn’t pure insanity on her.

GelsominoKiller7 votes

Honestly? I hope phantom hit just leaves lol for good (together with essence flux).

An x2 multiplier on on-hits is completely unbalanceable.

DeusVult3 votes

It breaks just about any champ that can use it.

Balanced around having a three hit passive??? Now you only need two hits.

Supposed to be a real late game threat at 4+ items??? Getting rageblade at item 2 means that you can hit that peak power at 20 or so minutes.

The item (or rather, the phantom hit passive) need to get the heck out of league

DeusVult1 votes

I hope so too, but Riot has a massive hard-on for on-hits that work obnoxiously well with Rageblade atm, so I doubt it

Alzon4 votes

Meddler has confirmed that this is not an effect that is multiplied by Rageblade - check the comments of today’s Dev Corner post.

SweedishGunner20 votes

I still don't like the idea of ticking time bomb champions, they should still have meaningful counterplay later in the game.

Quepha8 votes

as an immobile carry there will always be ways to pick her off.

LTK KoRo5 votes

well with this ult it might be hard to pick her off. Espiecially if Zhonyas will still be possible to build on her

Spicy Rice2 votes

Hard cc and blow her up, just like now

Mokuto Bunshi2 votes

IF you have the means to do so. If you are in lowish elo and also have people with little CC, you may not have a chance. Time will tell.

Quepha2 votes

That’s..actually true. I’m getting more OK with it. Hopefully the true damage part doesn’t work with Rageblade though.

Kayle has been one of my favorite champions and I think I'm the only person I've seen with level 7 Kayle, but she did fall off in my heart in recent years due to her stat checking nature and low mechanical input. Her new kit looks extremely fun from a gameplay perspective, but I am seriously concerned she will be dumpstered one day due to pro play... she has a lot of the warning signs.

  1. Extremely potent on 0 ping environments (orb walking with AOE true damage and high attack speed)
  2. Extremely potent initiation abilities (W's wacky move speed and R needs no explanation)
  3. Will annihilate anyone with high damage if her team keeps her alive (past examples include Kog'Maw, Kalista, new Irelia)

Hopefully this does not happen because I would like Kayle to be my new main, but we'll see.

AS I LAY FEEDING6 votes

why cant they just add armor/magic pen instead, yikes.

Chembaron Yamada2 votes

She still has armor and magic shred. She gets the true damage additionally.

Glaricion3 votes

Plus % missing magic damage. Building mitigation versus her is going to be a real chore.

Zerenza2 votes

Thorn Mail+Adaptive Helm+Tabi's+Randuins/Frozen Heart should do the trick though i'm sure she'll still shred you but with this you lower damage from her On-Hit Magic Damage(such as Nashor's, Her Passive and Guinsoo's) due to Helm, You take -12% from all auto attacks(including True Damage) you inflict Greivous Wounds and cause her to damage herself and finally you take -20% damage from Critical Strike's if you go Randuins or Reduce her attack speed tremendously if you go frozen heart.

Edit: Cut Randuins share Cold Steel with Thornmail(I often don't get to buy Randuins)

I actually like Thornmail+Adaptive Helm a lot against Hybrid Auto Attacker's like Kai'sa, Yi and Jax.

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

Since when does Adaptive Helmet reduce the damage from autos? It just works against spells, doesn't it?

Zerenza3 votes

It says taking magic damage from a spell or effect will reduce all subsiquent damage from that same effect by 20% for 4 seconds. Because it says "effect" it also includes Nashor's, Wit's End and Guinsoo's along with On-Hit auto attack effects that deal magic damage such as Kayle's.

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

Oooooh, ok. I thought you talk about the actual AD par of the auto atack damage and not the on-hit effects. My bad.

Does it really include true damage, tho? I thought true damage can't get reduced.

Zerenza3 votes

True damage cannot be reduced with Armor or Magic Resist, but because Ninja Tabi reduce all Auto Attack damage by 12%, ninja tabi can reduce True Damage from Auto Attacks.

Having both sounds like a balancing nightmare if you ask me.

lolipopevelynn6 votes

Is it really ok to just autowin at lvl 16 tho?

Lovelle4 votes

She has to be a melee for 10 levels. Wow the struggle is real, literally worse than war and famine.

This is 2019, nobody deserves to be an immobile melee champion.

Alzon21 votes

Hey, I love my immobile melee champions >:^(

Sion Darius Mordekaiser Blitzcrank Chogath Rumble

letsfeedtogether6 votes

sion has his ult >_>

Saianna8 votes

Blitz and rumble? Really? I mean they don't have much of mobility but their speed bursts are pretty solid.

On top of that comparing heavier units with kayle.. Yeaa. Okay

Chembaron Yamada11 votes

If you consider Rumble and Blitz as not immobile because of their speed boost, then Kayle isn't either. She has a really potent movementspeed boost in her kit.

Lovelle2 votes

I was being facetious, as I also main immobile melees. I was poking at the fact that some people are making a big deal that Kayle has to be melee for a few levels, which is supposed to be her tradeoff for hyperscaling into lategame.

Sp33d Zer01 votes

If she's an immobile melee carry that's a terrible combination.

Look at Morde on his current state and how long rumble has been bad. They can bully but that's about it

Lovelle2 votes

Only time will tell. Personally, I think Kayle will be fine.
