PSA to adcs, help to ward

Usually when I'm in bot lane I'm the support. Most of the time my adcs don't ward, and sometimes there are lapses in vision. I played an adc game the other day, and I warded. And my support warded. It felt amazing.

The entire bot side river was lit up. Just counting bot lane's wards, we covered dragon, the blast cone, tri brush, and even had a pink in river brush. The best part is, I only had to spen 75 gold and 30-45 seconds in total to make my lane ungankable. This was when my support was autofilled and didn't know how to ward. Imagine what you can get when both adc and support know how to ward for each jungle matchup.

Tldr; spend 75 gold and 45 seconds to gank-proof your lane if you're an adc, it's that easy

As someone who plays the other four lanes and regularly has the highest vision score out of everyone in the game to a support player:

item 3340 has a long-ass cooldown, especially early on. Support players tend to forget this because they swap to item 3364 after they get the wards on their gold item. The times they're "not using it" are sometimes simply because it's still on cooldown, or they just got another ward ~10 seconds ago. You have 3-4 that refill as soon as you back after about 10 minutes in. And, on the subject of item 2055, the ADC, especially until the last patch, had a shitton of expensive components. Supports usually have fairly cheap components and combine costs. item 1004 and item 1006 in particular are abundant in enchanter builds. For ADCs, item 1051 alone cost 600g until a couple patches ago. item 3086 has another 600g combine cost. ADCs need to rush certain items in particular to be relevant, while a Sona or whatever can technically subsist in lane with just a item 3098 item 1001 and a item 3114. ADCs can't always spend the gold on a Control Ward, and it'll be placed in a hard-to-defend location anyways (as your control ward is probably in the tribrush) generally meaning they just gave up their RFC or pickaxe for...a ward that's already been destroyed 20 seconds after they placed it.

Also, if someone happens to be in that bush they're going to ward, the ADC is going to die.

Now, none of this excuses the Vayne with a vision score of 7 when you're 30 minutes in, but I do want you to realize that there are reasons they may not help as much as you'd like. This isn't even because you're a "bad person" or whatever, sometimes...we just forget things. We get frustrated that our ADC has half our vision score, but don't always realize that they're still trying their hardest.

Hmmm 75 gold to avoid ganks, or let that 75 sit in your inventory so you can back 3 minions earlier...?

The 75g doesn't prevent ganks, it just lets you know they're coming.

If the enemy team has a fed Rengar, you're going to be ganked no matter where you are in lane. Hell, depending on botlane's comp, you'll be ganked regardless of whether or not that Rengar is fed. A single extra ward isn't going to stop him.

This is so accurate. Control warding and wards in general can only do so much toward ganks. It's only bad junglers that allow wards on tri and river stop them. Good junglers can affectively lane gank or even gank from behind the turret to initiate a dive. For warding to actually be a meaningful tool, you kind of have to put them so far into the enemy jungle that it's not really even safe.

Warding, unless using summoner 12 or you're LeeSin, just gives you information. Information can be a very, very useful tool, but information alone doesn't let you win a fight. Even if you can see everything going on at once, you're no more likely to win that fight.

What warding does is tell you you can fight in the first place, it tells you whether or not their buff is up, if they're doing dragon, or planning to gank, or whatever else they're doing. Warding is an essential tool to winning, but a ward doesn't stop a tower dive, nor does it help in a 5v5 in the middle of a lane. Warding is a powerful ability to master, but if your only skill is warding, you won't climb, because you can ward perfectly, but if you can't pull off a combo correctly, no number of perfectly-placed wards will let you kill your opponent.

And, of course, three well-placed and well-timed wards are worth more than thirty misplaced and mistimed ones. You can place all the wards you want, but if they're not placed well they might as well not be there at all.

Too few people understand this. We all understand warding needs to happen, but we don't do it right.

Sitting on two wards as a champion that can't ward hop should be a punishable offense.

I ward in laning phase but my warding falls off a lot after that, in part because I forget to swap my trinket and in part because I usually play ADCs that, in order to ward, have to just face check because they have no skill shots or means of checking a bush before they enter it. Which, again, would be solved if I remember to change my trinket.

So yes, my vision score is low but it's not due to a lack of warding in lane phase.

i always ward an maintain large amounts of vision. my supports are usually the weak link when it comes to this. i'll BEG for vision, and they'll just not..
