As a low gold why am I getting matched against a season 5 diamond player

Like wtf RIto. That's not fair or fun. What is going on with matchmaking right now. It is terrible.

Just beat the lower level people and prove you can play with the adults :)

I'd assume that it would be because their MMR tanked horribly.

I was in Platinum 5 with roughly Platinum 2 MMR and I managed to get placed Gold 2 immediately after placements and I've been getting matched with primarily high-Gold and low-Platinum players.

Alternatively, your team had a premade with Platinum players or something and that brought your team's MMR up.

I have an idea: Remove MMR from ranked. If you suck (like me) you'll get demoted, and if you're good, you'll get PROMOTED and automatically face other opponents about your skill lvl, since there wont be any high lvl gold 3's or low lvl diamond 2's, all the matchmaking will be done according to your rank. That way, a good player will climb to his approriate rank and stay there if he belongs. Smurfs will climb quickly, which I also see as a good thing.

If a player is better than his division, why match him with opponents that make it harder for him to climb? Just let him climb, already! True ladder style.
