bots should be more than just a place to get first win of the day.

or a place to read a champions abilities for the first time ever.

seriously, i dont get why after all this time bots are still the way they are. it makes no sense to me.

bots should be a place where anyone, at any skill level should be able to learn something and get better.

what bots currently accomplish:

  1. give you first win of the day
  2. there is no 2.

what bots should accomplish:

  1. give you first win of the day if you played well.
  2. teach you matchups
  3. teach you proper trading.
  4. teach you proper CSing
  5. teach you proper lane control
  6. teach you proper vision control
  7. teach you proper initiations.
  8. teach you proper roaming
  9. teach you proper objective control

bots should not be a 2 difficulty (or 3 now i guess) game mode.

i should have the option of playing against bronze to diamond bots.

actually difficulties for bots should be a slider that goes from bronze 5 to diamond 1.

and a diamond 1 player should have a hard time winning against a diamond 1 bot.

this is all doable, its not that difficult to make for a company with riots resources. plus the state of bots at the moment is pitiful at best. i have personally programmed better performing bots for pvp enabled games before.

the fact that they dont have a jungle bot is still mindblowing to me to be honest.

At the current level of difficulty, they'd be so easily invaded.

Jungling is all about teamwork anyway (leashing, preventing invades, and so on), so it's probably outside the current AI's capability to coordinate at that level. Computers just can't replicate the same level of creativity we can.

When I play bots I usually do it to screw around with a particular mechanic or two. Mostly global skillshots, such as those of Ashe, Jinx, Ezreal. I just build enough lifesteal to sustain indefinitely, get 40% CDR, and fire off ults whenever I can. That way I don't contribute to an unreasonably fast end to the game, and I'm still there to help if for some reason it goes wrong.

Problem is that some people just want that damn 150IP, so I go TT because it's supposedly easier.

Dominion bots used to be my go get of IP because you'd finish the game in less than 10 minutes.

Now stuck playing that creepy map with limited items because the Rift is far too long to get that.

And yes, I play on the lowest bot settings to make it even easier.

thats fine, people that just want the IP would still be able to play against bronze 5 bots and get the ip.

"2. there is no 2." I use it to test my internet connection before going to play ARAM.

It should also be a place where you can chill in a casual, friendly environment.

I loaded into a bot game once to relax after some really bad games, and somehow we still get a guy on our team who rages at his leaning partner for "being trash". This doesn't seem to happen as often as normals, but really? It shouldn't be happening at all.

There is no reason at all for bots to go that high of a level. It would clearly just reach a point where they're constantly weaving in and out of skillshots and are extremely aggressive with calculations to a single digit while being able to perfectly CS.

Bots are nothing more than a learning tool for the newest of players in their first few days to weeks of playing. No matter what you get the bots to do, playing against actual players should and always will be the best way to learn the game.

actually, thats exactly what bots arent. bots are terrible for teaching anyone the basics of this game, because they are so stupid they completely fail at teaching you basic concepts like CSing in lane properly while being harrassed.

How do you propose they improve bots to reach your goal of being super advanced teachers that is better than just playing against humans? Unless you make put them at a ridiculous level, people will find exploits. Right now, the way I see it is bots teach players their kill potential on champions and what champions do by showing a wide variety of them that a new player would not be able to buy right off the bat.

I would honestly rather see time invested into an improvement in the tutorial. Maybe if Riot broke it into sections that explained basic things in the game, such as CSing, objectives, role assignments, and itemization, then this wouldn't have to be a thread. I think it's bad that for a player to learn stuff like lane freezing, roaming, and splitpushing, people have to go look at streams or youtube tutorials. Bots simply cannot effectively teach this and a better tutorial broken into segments would solve a lot of the entry issues for League.

I've always hoped to see bots used to give a more complete new user experience also.
