Preventive suggestion for Jhin @Riot

Decrit··265 votes·6,386 views

In case you did not thought already that and if that does not skew his balance, make him so the 4th attack deals double damage to wards.

No kiddin, i just suspect that otherwise it would be really frustrating to deal with pink wards since you have to shoot four times, reload, then shoot again. This way you shoot the full round then reload.

Very reasonable suggestion! It's like a breath of fresh air around here.

I know man.

I do not play graves but i play support. I feel the pain just watching.

But Im Nunu5 votes

Well help the man out! xD

Decrit1 votes

I do when i can, but since i started playing Shen support i always keep an eye on him when i am very far, so i can' t always do that xD

Serika Zero2 votes

enjoy your new reworked shen support

Decrit5 votes

I noticed that right after writing that comment

hype *_*

Melledoneus1 votes

I never really liked Shen support. Shen top and jungle is where your skills are best represented.

I mean, how good does it feel to beat a DARIUS in lane?

Decrit1 votes

That is true, but i play shen support because i like the roaming potential.

Do you know how it feels good to gank midlane, kill the enemy Zed and then ulti to the carry that is doing 1v2 and then engage again on the already weakened enemy Kalista? :D

Melledoneus2 votes

Now imagine that scenario where you're level 6 before the enemy bot lane because you were in a solo lane.

Virgin Ray2 votes

It's like watching a little tired girl pushing her tiny fragile body to clean the house, but doesn't know she has a maid.

I don't think that analogy made any sense.

It Hertz When IP3 votes

I think I understood. Analogy still needs work.

Alleo1 votes

You could always shoot shoot E shoot shoot

KaisadiIIa3 votes

do you mean shoot shoot E mid and jung appear suddlenly from nowhere boom 300g for them?

Alleo3 votes

Yeah that always seems to be how it goes.

Melledoneus1 votes

Can you give me the keyboard combo? I don't know the name of Jhin's abilities, especially the "mid and jung" one.

KaisadiIIa1 votes

It's Flash passive. It only activates while Flash is on cooldown.

Melledoneus1 votes

Is it F? Because D is my dance button.

morris112 votes

It's also needed because of his inexistent AS scale. Very good thought.

IxtaliKing10 votes

If AAing wards has to consume his passive, this would be the best thing to do + 1

But Im Nunu5 votes

If it's a brand new ward, it has to. A pink ward got 5 "hp" and he only have 4 auto before reload. This is a good idea though since if he uses his last auto he would waste his crit.

Simple Moon9 votes

This makes sense. I came to this post to see what the latest Jhin hater was up to, but you pleasantly surprised me with a good idea!

MorningEspeon4 votes

Honestly I think any auto attack related passive that procs on wards should also deal extra damage just so its not wasted. For example, I'm pretty positive TwistedFate's E expends a charge on wards but doesn't do extra damage and then you have to stack up the passive again.

Decrit5 votes

Neh, i am not sure about that. I mean, AA resets already allow an additional AA to the wards. That might or might not be TF case ( does it reset AA?), but the point here is that Jhin has an innate timing problem for autoattacks, while other champions do not. A TF can just AA a ward as well as many other champions, even if not very effectively.

Ariel the Cruel2 votes

I don't know about TF specifically, but Riot did a clean-up last season so most on-hit abilities wouldn't apply to wards.

KaisadiIIa4 votes

These are the kind of posts RIOT should care about.

A little -if not insignificant- change to remove what will be (if remains unchanged) a big, pointless annoyance in the game.

allthemuslims1 votes

Sona "I SPENT 75 Gs TO PUT THAT PINK THERE AND I DAMNED WELL INTEND TO USE THAT RELOAD CD TIME TO PROTECT IT"

So it's not pointless, but I definitely think it would be a positive change if they put it in.

But Im Nunu3 votes

I like this. If this is implimented, Jhin would have to make a choice of destroying the pink ward or saving his crit (if enemy is nearby). With graves, I understand because of the AoE affecting other things. But having single target attack, can't get more AS from item, and an ammo system not enough to kill pink...that will take a while.

kS7jqhxrGi2 votes

Trying to make a op champ more op. You bronzes will stop at nothing to try to get out huh?

Decrit7 votes

Yeah i wanna abuze the bazillion% of win at release, i need LP to sustain ma ego man

kS7jqhxrGi1 votes

Obviously only a someone with ego problems would try to get all the free lp they can from an already broken champ.

VoidTempest4 votes

um. Good for you?

kile1473 votes

He will most certainly be OP because that's how Riot tends to release champs, but this is more of a QoL change than anything else, it certainly is not ever going to be a major balance point.

RG Velean1 votes

It's not really a factor of them releasing champs, moreso of the lack of knowledge on how to play against them. I cant tell you how many times I went into a game and saw someone who had been studying the new champ and how to play them and just poop on the enemy laner because they don't know how to counter it coughcough Illoai coughcough

Melledoneus3 votes

Oh, no! Now I'm going to abuse the holy Donger-cakes out of being able to kill pink wards in FOUR autos rather than FIVE.

Riot, arrest that man!!!

SettDownShutUp2 votes

Wow, I like this one a lot. Yeah do this riot!

dunkeroni2 votes

Even better suggestion:

Don't trigger his passive on wards.

Sona's Passive bonus damage every 3 skills doesn't get used up when attacking wards. This is so that she doesn't have to avoid clearing wards in preference of dealing champion damage. If a similar system was implemented on Jhin, it would allow him to be much more active in vision control without living in fear of reloading his gun.

Decrit1 votes

If you mean that Jhin does not have to use bullets while putting down wards, then i can agree too.

Not sure if it is the best since there is already Graves that does not work like that and since it could be interesting to catch an enemy off anyway, but your suggestion to me is equally workable as mine.

dunkeroni2 votes

Not necessarily that he doesn't use bullets, but possibly that he doesn't use his 4th bullet, saving the bonus damage and reload until he hits a real target. I think it would introduce interesting play mechanics.

Decrit1 votes

Hhhhng, it is already a bit forced that way :P

I can understand that wasting the good bullet on a ward does feel bad, but after all you are going to reload anyway when you walk past, is not like it costs a significant cooldown or resources. Sure, they can engage you while you reload, but then is your concern to do so safely. Actually in safety terms that is the least of his concerns.

Also i am not sure how reloading works for him, probably it is delayed a bit for the 4th bullet ( just guessing ) since it is not like Graves where every bullet is equal or probably Riot might thing about changing it that way, and doing as you suggest here may disrupt a lot the tempo, other thank making it faster.

This is why i thought making it just not use bullets were a good idea - you still require the champion to take a bit of time, but you don' t disrupt the tempo of his mechanics because those are not involved. I am overthinking it? :P

Jared Fenrir1 votes

Yeah, but Graves' AA is AoE and can hit enemies while he's attacking the ward.

Spizzle90002 votes

My suggestion might seem OP, but now that you've made this great idea, I think that killing a ward shouldn't take bullets at all. He should still have to AA and stuff, but I think his passive should only apply to minions, monsters, and champions. Not wards.

AvatarRoku222 votes

From experience (pbe player) I agree that something needs to be done for attacks on wards. Ward clearing is atrocious on Jhin. one could say that graves suffers fromthis as well but the main difference is that graves atkspd and reload speed both increase with items. Jhins attacks are slow... very slow and clearing wards in a lot of cases is more dangerous than its worth. The only time its not crazy slow is if you are attacking it with an ally which makes the issue even more glaring if you are playing Jhin in a solo lane.

ModKnightsKemplar1 votes

I also think you have a reasonable suggestion, and clearly thought through it well.

Having said that, I won't be surprised if Riot doesn't do that. It's an acceptable weakness for a champ. He's not really the "roam around the map and destroy wards" type, anyway.

Decrit1 votes

Well, honestly no champion is balanced around the viability to destroy wards with auto-attacks ( at least as far as i know). I don' t want to make him good at killing wards either. Just an usability thing.

Steelflame1 votes

Leona's bush dominance is based on her ability to do that instantly upon a ward being dropped, actually. It isn't major, per say, but if they got rid of that Leona would probably get a minor buff down the line just because her lane power was significantly weakened on bush control.

Decrit1 votes

But that' s very niche: it is because stealth wards require few secs to be invisible and Leo can overattack them, but here we are talking about pinks after all.

It is a characteristic to consider, but if pinks can be attacked equally by everyone and Jhin takes a whole lot of time to put one down, then i would find it pretty annoying. Also, the OCD strikes in when you miss only a bullet to take a ward down D:

The problem might be when Jhin attacks a green ward with his 4th hit, maybe because he was hitting some minions before, but i would consider that in the same regard as other champions that have an AS boost or AA resent on attacking stuff, like Jax or Varus - also is very player interactive, it is of the player' s care to drop a ward where it can be invisible safely.

Also, i am not sure it is an intended power or weakness for him. Might be however. In the case, i am just letting this notice.

Flying Bok Choy1 votes

Great Idea! I can't Imagine how frustrating that would be.
