It would be kinda awkward seeing a bulky person with 4 agile people jumping around, I don't really see how Leona could've fit into it.

Um... yay for flashy lights and animation? I guess it was cool, but it didn't really explain anything, add anything to the lore other than "zed is evil and leona isn't here lol" or change the game in any way. It's nothing that's really worth caring about. It doesn't take place anywhere we're familiar with, and I doubt anything about it will be explained or brought up again. It added about as much to the game as a video of a Fiora cosplayer twirling glowsticks would have. Two kids somewhere spit out their mountain dew in amazement and the rest of us said "I guess that's cool" and then moved on and forgot about it.

But the animation was very good quality, even if it was pointless. I'd love to see real lore brought to us this way. Or maybe animated renditions of important matches that have been played... Maybe an animated rendition of the most exciting matches in the upcoming pro scene? That could be fun to watch.

There are much cooler things they could have done with a video of that quality besides recreating a playthrough of Metal Gear: Revengeance. It was all just pointless hype building to sell kids on their "super cool dubstep cyberninja skins yo". There isn't really a story here unless the vision Yi keeps having is of the new champ coming out next... and even IF that is the case, it's STILL not a story, just an easter-egg teaser to ALSO sell their new champ. Now if they show that league matches all take place in a virtual-reality fantasy world that the project characters are stuck inside or trying to get people out of... THAT would be lore. Stupid lore, but lore.

But they won't do that. They won't embellish much, if at all on that video. It's an ad. Just because project Zed wasn't covered in stickers for sponsors doesn't make it any less an ad. Hell, having him show up wearing a Nike shirt, drinking a Pepsi and with a sticker for Alienware or Razer products on his ass might have made the vid more entertaining!

Its skin lore,what did you expect? While skin lore isn't that important,it is still something that adds a little flavor to the game. People have been asking for who made the project skins,in what world they live in and so on,now they got an answer,or at least a hint into a direction.

Personal theory: The PROJECT characters are all old fighters who had their skills uploaded into these robotic replacements. However, the upload was too good and they got at least parts of the memories uploaded as well. This is easily seen for Master Yi, he is seeing visions of a large demon/warrior of some kind marching on a village he is trying to defend. I like to assume this being ended up killing Yi, which is why the memory is so traumatic. Then the weird scientist guy somehow recreated a new body and put him in it.

Fiora and Lucian who both went through the same thing somehow escaped this guy's control, and upon learning he made another hunted him down to rescue Yi who is the newest of the PROJECT group. The issue, is Zed was not able to escape control and so was sent after the group by evil generic scientist guy.

Just my personal thoughts. :P

I'm actually kinda interested to hear Riot's thoughts on Yi's visions of the past. Are they some residual training program? Memories from a prior life? Is the Project team fully robotic, or cyborgs? Is Project Yi the actual Master Yi or an advanced copy with the original's memories implanted? How the heck did those memories get implanted? WHAT THE FUCK YEAR IS IT?

So they are robots/cyborgs/androids (?) possessing memories of long dead champions? And I presume the city is Ionian in the far future?

I love the metal gear'sk design you did for the skins. Reminds me of Raiden with the synthetic muscles, slick design and all that good stuff.

I presume it's Olaf that we see in MasterYi flashbacks... Could it possibly be a hint at Fjeljord invading Ionia? Or perhaps it's only the Winters Claw that is invading. That would make sense considering they are the most savage and bloodthirsty of the 3 clans.

Great short movie Riot! I love when you play around with settings and themes.

Olaf fights with axes not swords. I suppose it could be part of a skin, but throwing a sword (undertow) just wouldn't look right.

My guess is the samurai guy is the new champion. The weird black and white spiral thing that's been showing up in game could be a hint to a new champion representing a yin and yang type warrior. Someone wielding two swords would fit that and naturally be part of MasterYi backstory and possibly have his own project skin.

Well they are both from Ionia, and Zed is not one of the kindest among there. Probably he had a score to settle with Master Yi and was just pissed off :P

Like Yi and Fiora are gettin ambushed by Zed when Yi sees some connection to him, alright. Then Lucian pops out and starts shooting like it' s his way to say hello ( and probably it is ) and start a teamfight down to an elevator. Zed fights Yi, Fiora helps Yi because she saved him and Lucian was just there shootin.

Was he an ally of Fiora waiting outside? Is Zed a really bad teamfighter? for now, we may never know

Actually the project splashs fit together and it looks like zed is fighting alongside the others,meaning that zed in that story would probably ally with the others eventually. It is possible that Zed suffered from those fake memories just as Yi.

I really like the fact that if we take the skin lines seriously, Riot has basically created a number of canon AUs to play with, or, depending on how wacky they want to go with chronomancy, different timelines. Or hell, maybe even just one timeline at different points. It really does give a more expansive notion of what "Legends" can mean in their universe(s).
