People asked for lore...

...Leona didn't even make an appearance?

Um... yay for flashy lights and animation? I guess it was cool, but it didn't really explain anything, add anything to the lore other than "zed is evil and leona isn't here lol" or change the game in any way. It's nothing that's really worth caring about. It doesn't take place anywhere we're familiar with, and I doubt anything about it will be explained or brought up again. It added about as much to the game as a video of a Fiora cosplayer twirling glowsticks would have. Two kids somewhere spit out their mountain dew in amazement and the rest of us said "I guess that's cool" and then moved on and forgot about it.

But the animation was very good quality, even if it was pointless. I'd love to see real lore brought to us this way. Or maybe animated renditions of important matches that have been played... Maybe an animated rendition of the most exciting matches in the upcoming pro scene? That could be fun to watch.

Personal theory: The PROJECT characters are all old fighters who had their skills uploaded into these robotic replacements. However, the upload was too good and they got at least parts of the memories uploaded as well. This is easily seen for Master Yi, he is seeing visions of a large demon/warrior of some kind marching on a village he is trying to defend. I like to assume this being ended up killing Yi, which is why the memory is so traumatic. Then the weird scientist guy somehow recreated a new body and put him in it.

Fiora and Lucian who both went through the same thing somehow escaped this guy's control, and upon learning he made another hunted him down to rescue Yi who is the newest of the PROJECT group. The issue, is Zed was not able to escape control and so was sent after the group by evil generic scientist guy.

Just my personal thoughts. :P

I'm actually kinda interested to hear Riot's thoughts on Yi's visions of the past. Are they some residual training program? Memories from a prior life? Is the Project team fully robotic, or cyborgs? Is Project Yi the actual Master Yi or an advanced copy with the original's memories implanted? How the heck did those memories get implanted? WHAT THE FUCK YEAR IS IT?

I love the metal gear'sk design you did for the skins. Reminds me of Raiden with the synthetic muscles, slick design and all that good stuff.

I presume it's that we see in flashbacks... Could it possibly be a hint at Fjeljord invading Ionia? Or perhaps it's only the Winters Claw that is invading. That would make sense considering they are the most savage and bloodthirsty of the 3 clans.

I really like the fact that if we take the skin lines seriously, Riot has basically created a number of canon AUs to play with, or, depending on how wacky they want to go with chronomancy, different timelines. Or hell, maybe even just one timeline at different points. It really does give a more expansive notion of what "Legends" can mean in their universe(s).
