ARAM positions.
All games have strategy. ARAM is quite different from Classic- so the strategy is also different. I want to talk about ROLES in ARAM.
Yes- they exist.
Offensive Frontline / OF The duty of Offensive Frontline is simple- get behind the enemy frontline. OF is about INITIATING- making use of brush and lane to set up plays. Champions that excel in this position are Assassins and Fighters- champions that can get in and explode before making a quick escape.
Defensive Frontline / DF The duty of Defensive Frontline is to prevent LEAKS. A leak is allowing an enemy to get behind you. DF is about PRESENCE- the only time DF should enter brush is to check its safety, which is the duty of DF. Most of DF gameplay should be played up front and in their face. DF is also responsible for keeping track of Health spawns, and guarding the area from enemies. Health spawns 1 minute after it has been collected- and begins to spawn at the 2 minute mark. A DF champion needs to position itself in a way that discourages enemy advances. Champions that excel in this position are tanks with high CC in their kits.
Midline Poke / MP The duty of Midline Poke is to provide damage output and/or cc for your frontline. MP can be AD or AP, but is the tankier counterpart for each. MP should have full range of the lane, but should refrain from advancing past Frontline or retreating too far behind the Backilne. Good examples of these champs are Graves or Ryze.
Support The duty of Support is the same: assist champions. Support is the only ARAM role with complete roam- and is expected to be in all places at once. We all know who good Support champions are, that hasn't changed. However, Support is also a role filler- if any other Role starts to weaken, the Support must be able to take over or provide solitary support to that role.
Backline Burst / BB The duty of Backline Burst is straight forward- stay safe and drop high damage from a distance. BB can be AD or AP, but must have amiable range and damage output to be successful in this position. Jhin and Xerath are good examples of champions that fit this role.
Obviously your team is never guaranteed with ARAM- so it always comes down to your better judgement. See you in the Abyss!
