Guardian Nunu doesn't really need buffs, it's every other playstyle that does.
Basically, if you don't pick Guardian, build from a small pool of items and play a certain style you're bound to fail on Nunu. So any potential buffs should make not doing that less punishing, right?
Here are some suggestions on how that could be accomplished:
Give the heal on Consume a Health ratio: Despite Consume Nunu lacks sustain. That's why Warmog's Armor is pretty much core on him. If you gave Consume a Health Ratio of any kind, Warmog's would be less necessary and he would have more freedom in buying other items.
Make Ability Power more rewarding on him: Despite having three great Ability Power ratios, Nunu can't really build Ability Power. Buffing his synergy with it would automatically buff his synergy with Sorcery and make that Path less of an auto-fail.
Ways to do that could be ...
- Changing one his E slows to a passive spell-damage slow so they apply to Hextech items.
- Buffing Consume's Ability Power ratio with rank so that Ability Power offers him sustain. Does something similar to the Health ratio suggestion.
- Giving him additional ratios on his buffs or debuffs.
- Giving him passive bonus magic damage on-hit via Blood Boil or bonus magic damage on-hit once after using Visionary.
Give him more synergy with Sorcery specifically through his ult: Buffing his ult in any way makes Ultimate Hat better on him, and giving him damage over time during the channel (!!!) would give it more synergy with two of Sorcery's Keystones.
Possibly, give him an Attack Damage ratio on Ice Blast: If the damage was changed from 80/120/160/200/240 to 20/55/90/125/160 (+0.8 Attack Damage) and you took Sorcery or even Domination, but didn't buy Ability Power then having an Attack Damage ratio somewhere in his kit might be nice. And since Nunu is very Attack-based anyways, it might allow him to buy items like Sterak's + Spellblade or Titanic Hydra. It would also make Ice Blast's damage scale a little in the early game while he maxes Consume.
