As a top main, I have found mid lane so much more fun to play in ranked than top lane

In top lane, I either get hard counter picked, hard camped by enemy jungler, or play against a braindead meta abuser. It is so much more fun to go mid lane, where my skill actually matters, and I get rewarded for playing aggressive, and counter picks matter so much less when the distance to mid lane is so much shorter, and the meta picks for mid are so much less braindead than the ones you see top lane (klepto keenen, klepto vlad, klepto kayle, the new garen, oppressive unbeatable fiora, ranged top laners) and even though some mid picks are really hard to play against (qiyanna being broken in general) it is still a winnable lane if i play it right instead of being 1 sidedely beat down because i have no jungler pressure and the enemy abuses meta and watch my team slowly lose because i was counterpicked and could only sit under my tower the whole game.

Any champ can beat any of those in solo queue. The only legitimately unbeatable champ top is Illaoi

Lol all of illaois damage comes from slow moving skill shots with with huge telegraphs.

But yeah, top lane being a longer lane and with less jungler attention puts a lot more emphasis on mtach ups and the players skill. It's not for everyone

illaoi is a terrible champion, if u lose to illaoi as a top main ur really bad at the game. U stand behind minions and her e does nothing, her q is easy af to dodge, and there are many counterpicks like rumble and kled, and i usually win lane against illaoi playing gangplank, my main, unless the jg camping is really bad.

Everything find other roles more fun since they are sick of losing with their roles I main mid and whenever I go top I have much more fun. Besides you top mains always care for winning lane to much Just fyi , in mid lane winning lane doesn't matter , it's about roaming and winning your bot lane.

Mid lane has the most impact on the game simply due to the roaming potential and how much more high-tuned all the viable mid lane champs are, it's kind of your best bet for climbing because of that
