What are your (realistic) expectations when you queue up for, enter, and start playing a game?

Be as descriptive as possible. Don't hold anything back even if you think other people's views about our expectations will be negative. Don't scroll down before leaving your comment. I know this isn't a random sample, but I would like to see if expectations are pretty varied.

You expect people to do X, then note that, If you expect people NOT to do Y, then also note that.

Some starting points for each stage would be: Queue - queue times, team composition/degree of adherence to the meta, degree of communication, other behaviors, dodging enter - loading times, FPS, ping, server stability, loading screen tips quality, number of skins playing - rate of death, personal performance, are there other ways you judge performance besides deaths/gold?, ingame communication

If your expectations differ between game mode, then detail that.

I greatly appreciate any comments or insight.

Sure... Let's see, queue times between 30s - 1 min. Team composition I don't really care, we need the Top-Mid-Jungle-Marksman-Support system preferably not all AD or AP but a good mix. Communication is not really necessary besides announcing what your best roles are in this regard. Only dodging if someone is obviously trolling, that said, I've never left a lobby.

Loading times around 2-3 minutes, ping somewhere in 70 range, obviously need server stability or no one could play. Loading screen tips I don't really care, think they're good as is. I'd expect around 3 skins on each team but it certainly isn't required.

Rate of death is pretty hard... I'd expect no more than 1 death per person every 5 minutes. That's about 8 deaths in a 40 minute game so seems pretty normal. I strive for about half that, but it can't always be helped. I judge people based on k/d/a, cs score, and sometimes just things I see them do. Like a Yi who is 7/4/3 might look pretty good, but in reality just shows up late to teamfights and gets a kill or two after his whole team is dead. As far as in game communication, nothing but pings is really necessary. I rarely say anything at all, besides the occasional "gj" or "nice play".

my expectation is pretty much the same every game.

in team select i don't care what people pick. What I care is they actually know how to play the champion and actually at least win or go even in lane with it. I dont care if you pick a non meta champ just know how to play it. Go yasuo support for all I care, don't lose the lane with it. Although I do expect people who play support to always get a sightstone at some point before 20 minutes.

In game I just want people to not repeat the same mistakes over and over again and have at least some common sense. which means not getting caught constantly despite having visions or constantly trying to 1v5 the enemy team.

I expectations are to see garen, darius, skarner, mordekeiser, fiora banned as well as a vanye adc and one yasou

I expect one lane to go even one to get stomped and one to stomp and for jungle+pick to decide the even players lane and hyper snowball the winning lead

In draft pick I expect the queue time to be about 1min-1:30. Each team will consist of what is considered the meta, ADC/Support/Mid/Top/Jng (although I always hope for a change when I'm supporting. Maybe a Darius ADC or Cassio APC to support.) everyone will call a role, usually one will be called by more than one person, but the latter person will change to something else. Rarely someone will dodge for not getting the role they called.

Loading time will take 2-4 minutes. I don't usually pay attention during this time since I know the team comps from champ select. Most games have 4-8 skins in use. Ping is fine and the servers rarely have problems for me. I don't pay attention to the loading screen tips since they appear and disappear faster than i can read them (tip swaps out for "VS")

In game I don't expect any KDA value of anyone, neither positive or negative. Trying my hardest to win and just having fun are two different worlds for me. I'm unsure how I choose which way to play, but it is very obvious which ways I'm playing by my item builds. When I am seriously analyzing a game, I judge how well I and other people perform largely on their wards placed, and supports by wards placed + wards destroyed. communication by my team will be often negative. Someone did something wrong, and they should've done this instead. Or they shouldn't do anything at all. I have very low expectations for chat, and often only read it every minute or so.

In blind pick, I expect mostly the same. Some things change. In champ select I expect a couple people to argue over who gets what role. I expect 1-2 people to not call any role, and not click a champion until the last couple seconds are on the clock. This lack of communication irritates me, since it often leads to 2 top role champions being picked or such.

I don't expect people to try as hard as Draft, which is why I love playing it. People feel like they play to have fun, and that winning and positive KDAs aren't the primary goal. Most games I still expect one person to be the "must-win" draft kind of person; he will insult players that are playing poorly or not meeting his expectations. Sometimes he will ask in all chat for everyone to report the player that is doing poorly or trying something different. I have very little judgement on skill or performance in blind pick, since strategy isn't usually involved in the champion select. Overall I read chat more often; people don't seem as offensive as they do in draft pick, so it's easier for me to deal with emotionally.

I hope some of that helps for whatever you're doing! Lulu

(Note, these are mostly "Riot please do this" things)

Queue

  • To be warned if my allies are new at a certain champion or role (it lets me adjust my pick accordingly).
  • If teammates are doing something off meta, I don't want them to hide it from me (it comes back to letting me adjust my pick around my teammates)
  • To have teammates willing to swap roles around for the betterment of the team (mostly a draft pick thing).
  • Cooperation at this stage (If there's bickering here, it's not going to carry well into the match)
  • Minimal time finding a team, moderately (~30 seconds) more time than currently available to talk things out with team.

Enter

  • I think it's reasonable to expect a loading screen chat feature.
  • To be able to mouse over the Honor ribbon to see what type it is.
  • To be able to pull up the basic info on other champions abilities (so I can check for synergies I didn't know about or counters I forgot about)
  • To know what champion an enemy picked, even if they're not loading yet. Find another way to display "this player hasn't connected".
  • I want all HD icons. It bugs me more than I care to admit when a Summoner Spell or Summoner Icon is some low-definition version for some reason.

Playing

  • A way to re-play the location of pings. Sometimes I'm busy with my lane opponent when a ping happens and can't see where that "Danger" ping was at the moment.
  • A better way to communicate "ward here".
  • A running "wards placed" counter could be nice. I occasionally realize it's been a good while since I placed a ward, and I think a counter could help me remember.
  • A way to see the % scaling of abilities. No excuse for this to not be in the game already.
  • A quick way to look up scaling colors. Is Yellow Magic Resist scaling? Armor scaling? Move Speed scaling? I think this could be tied in at the store/item level.

I go into queue expecting to not get the role I want, I go into lobby expecting top, mid, and jungle to be auto called since playing adc is the worst experience in the game right now, and I go in game expecting my team to not know the basic principles that make winning possible. Occasionally I'm pleasantly surprised

Queue: I expect queue time to be around 4 minutes, expect my team to have zero tankiness (we can outdamage the team as Riven Ahri Lulu Vayne hurdur), yell at me for not sticking to the meta (Cinderhulk Tahm bro), everybody instalocks or flames, people threatening to AFK, etc. Enter: Loading times to be 5 minutes, have 60 FPS, have 170 ping, have no crashes, get shit loading screen tips, everybody has Project skin or some other skin for their "main," have my bot lane feed first blood, have everybody rage at the jungler (I'm ganking top, and bot lane reports me for not ganking that very instant). I judges performance based on: Teamwork capability Builds Objectives taken/lost KDA (small factor) mWards (for support, I expect to see at least 2 circles on the map at any given time)
