How many kills is too many as a support Bard?

So, I'm learning Bard. Wound up going 11/2/18 in my most recent game, without intentionally KSing. I was playing with friends, so it wasn't a major issue, but there was some grumbling that a support should never get so many kills. I get that, but hey, I'm a bursty support, and if my ult is down I don't really have any role in a team fight beyond trying to out-damage the enemies with my empowered auto-attacks (and peeling with my Q, but that's just more damage).

I realize that there's obviously no hard rule of thumb, but what are your thoughts on a burst support like Bard getting fed? I sure as hell don't want to let a critically wounded ADC escape a team fight or get a peel and do more damage, right?

was your adc fed? that is your job.

Not especially at 7/9, but he was learning a new champ, too. For example, we'd get ganked, I'd do my best but he'd go down, and then I'd nab a double kill and escape. Feeding the ADC was certainly my goal, but it didn't work out.

It doesn't matter honestly. Not in my opinion. Yes it is better if they get more kills (the carries) but if it is an accident you can't get in trouble for it. I honestly usually build bard tanky so I don't end up with as much burst, focusing more on distracting, stunning, peeling, healing, and initiation (usually got righteous glory/ancient coin line for entire team speed up)

1-3 isn't bad for a support..

Even I got kills as a Soraka building mostly for heals and not damage.. Literally my Banana killed them and they screamed "THE BANANA!" in all chat it was halliours.

Though there are some supports where if I play an ADC I don't mind if they get kills? Who are these supports that I think could use a few kills?

Yeah, don't worry about it. Try not to take them, give them away if they're 100% secure, but otherwise, just get your team the kills. Gold on another champ might be worth slightly more for the team, but it's not generally worth enough more that it's worth not securing the kill when you have the chance.
