Fiddlesticks Rework

Who is Fiddlesticks, the Hardbringer of Doom?

Currently, he is a versatile laner who can either go into the** jungle** (most commonly), support, and the mid lane. His immense sustain due to Drain allows him to prosper in the jungle, his point-click fear and silence helps him as a close-ranged support, and his massive AP ratios on his ultimate helps his damage out in the mid lane. Still, if you look at Fiddlesticks, his kit, and his lore, he does not fit into each role as you'd think so. He might be good for jungle clearing but what jungle item does he take? Cinderhulk? For more HP? But he doesn't come into melee range with opponents. Runeglaive? For **AP **AND CDR? But he doesn't auto attack in his main combo as a Diana would do. His long cooldowns contradict being a poke based support who uses his fear and silence for peel. His damaging spells aren't reliable. Drain can be interrupted and often will be. His ultimate has a long channel time and can only be used when he is unseen or else enemies WILL interrupt it.

Let's start off a rework to change many of his problems.

Passive: Dread - Every 10 seconds, using a spell consumes Dread, fearing all enemies hit by the spell for 1/1.5/2 seconds.

Context: I feel like this makes more sense than his current passive. Removing 10 Magic resist isn't a lot. With this passive Fiddlesticks will have more impact in teamfights as he will be able to fear multiple targets if they incorrectly position themselves.

Q: Terror's Veil- [Cost: 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120] [Range: 600] [Cooldown: 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 / 10] {Ground Target AOE Ability (Like Soraka's Q )} After a .5 second delay, Fiddlesticks sends his crows into the eyes of his enemies reducing their vision and dealing 60 / 85 / 130 / 180 / 250** (+60% AP)** magic damage to enemies hit by it.

Context: Riot gave Fiddlesticks his ult which in it's own way seems like a High Magic Damage Surprise Party. This change helps Fiddlesticks thematically and in his gameplay. His ganks will be stronger as a jungler. He will have more reliable damage as a mid laner. He will be able to win skirmishes as a support if enemies walk into his Veil.

His W is unchanged.

**E: Dark Wind- **[Cost: 40 / 60 / 80 / 95/ 100] [Range: 700] [Cooldown: 10 / 9 / 8 / 7 / 6] {Linear Skill shot (like Karma Q} (Uses on Hit effects) With a swipe of his scythe, Fiddlesticks sends a special crow to silence the first enemy that it hits for 1.5 seconds and dealing 50 / 70 / 120 / 150 / 200 (+50%) This special crow has a small AOE (similar to Karma's Q) that allow's multiple close enemies to be silenced as well. If Dark Wind hits an enemy who is affected by Terror's Veil, it will reduce the cooldown by 2 seconds.

Context: The point click bounce was incredibly short ranged, had a long cooldown, did VERY little damage, and had high mana costs. AKA: It was a bad spell all around. Not only does this give Fiddle some more breathing room, but it helps him clear waves faster too.

R: CrowStorm- Magic Damage Per Second Lowered to: 120 / 220 / 320 (+40%) {Delay: 1.25} Now lasts 4 seconds instead of 5. Fiddlesticks is given a small movement boost for each enemy hit by Crowstorm.

Context: A small conpensation nerf with some utility given.

Constructive Criticism is appreciated. :) Leave suggestions below.

I'm so disapointed that Fiddlestick's is left in the current state he's in that I'll take any rework over what he is now. He could be SO much more being an evil-scarecrow-monster known as the Harbinger of Doom. He could have an entire kit centered around dark magic and fear, yet he's left in a state where all you do is kind of just stand there and suck health out of someone with a green silly straw.

I am only here because Fiddlesticks needs new attack animations (His Q, W, and R all have the same animation). Take my upvote.

TNHA Baritone5 votes

His whole walk and stuff looks horrible. He really needs to be looked at.

2Behold5 votes

I love the walk. His attack animations need updating though.

TNHA Baritone3 votes

His walk doesnt look good because his model is so ...small like i feel like he could be a big bad scarecrow with a real weapon not some cardboard shit.

inb4 CertainlyT rework

"We thought Fiddlesticks' identity wasn't strong enough, so we decided to make him a strong, DPS-oriented short-ranged tanky fighter. With his new autoattack-based kit, he'll thrive in the bottom lane where we really feel like it suits his character as a spooky surprise scarecrow."

+1 for giggles. As much as I didn't like the Mordekaiser rework. I don't think CertainlyT is that bad. Sure he has a ton of mistakes he even says so, but he's just trying to evolve the game. And make it fun for all new players, and the ones now.

I love certaintlyt despite. his akward reworkss

he needs a viable jungle item like this: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/63NEPeFB-second-new-ap-jungle-item-suggestion

because right now item 3708 does practically nothing for him.

also, his ult could get the channel time removed.

no. this is just idk. its not good. haha. it doesn't really make him unique in any way at all. all you did was fix that he isn't cancerous with point and click everything. the fear is honestly one of the best parts of fiddle and what makes him a nuisance. I think you could make the fear the linear colliding skillshot or an aoe ranged skill shot, but you absolutely need the fear. the fear is like a big part of fiddles. the silence honestly can go. silences in general need to go, but that isn't going to happen. I think the E is probably the only thing on him that can be 100% reworked into something else as it is nothing more than annoying and does nothing for his identity. I would love to see fiddles have a shorter cooldown damage ability to make him more viable in solo lanes. Not sure what you could do with that. but thats really what you need. dark wind currently offers no counterplay once he gets the silence off because he just fears you right after. silence in and of itself offers no counterplay. let alone point and click silence that can silence you multiple times. change that E to a damaging ability (probably aoe to further his identity as an aoe mage) and make it something that deals low to moderate damage on a short cooldown from a relatively safe range. preferrably also a skill shot. his drain can stay targeted due to how easy it is to counter.

Nobody solo lanes with him, anymore. They just got plain fed up with his absolutely shitty farming.

TNHA Baritone1 votes

I made sure to include some wave clear.

DemonamBrk2 votes

I believe his Q should be a fear, fiddlesticks is naturally squishy, say instead of it being a single target, it's a cone ability, like one of Riven's abilities

BlackVenom651 votes

I agree strongly, I lso did a fiddle rework idea list, it moves aroun some of the keys and adds a pissive fear if you are hidden in the brush and an enemy joins you, but please chck mine out and give your feedback. Ofcourse though i didn't include many numbers because i didn't know how the numbering system works but help me by emailing to [email protected]

Fiddlesticks needs something to make him not worthless. He's currently a bit below viable in every position other than ADC.

Devilreaper XIII1 votes

fiddle is balanced right now but he does need a rework and his skills are indeed outdated

may i suggest

his Q not to be damaging? and he strikes terror in the hearts freezing opponents instead of making them run away in fear? ( 0,5 - 1 -1,25 seconds) blinding doesn't seem to fit fiddle .-.

his passive should give him bonus movement speed near (an) opponent(s) since he is a messenger of doom

W not only drains but stacks on E (similar to overheal)

E : fiddle ritually summons crows up to 5 of them using the excessive blood of the opponents/monsters you can activate the skill with 1-5 crows fiddle than throws the crow(s) at (an) opponent(s) and the crow(s) explodes on impact causing damage leaving bad blood to silence the opponent too? its more of a skill shot. crows need to be consecutively thrown (if not it goes on cd but you wont lose a crow) this will give fiddle a stack while farming in jungle^^ (you can aim where you throw them)

R : fiddle sacrifices 1-5 crows on E to activate R depending on the amount sacrificed the crow(s) will cause X amount of damage per second at the end of the ritual spell the crow(s) pop (not explode) sending bad blood flying thus silencing every opponent within radius.

Blinding doesn't fit fiddle even though scare crows are seem as nightly / dark figures? did you watch the cinematic? but i agree with most of wut you said

haha XD i go by his lore O.O he tells doom which is more eye opening than blinding XD i mean he leaves them breathless :P well, if they can't see how can he strike terror? :) players will most likely complain about getting feared by fiddles aoe skills due to the passive you suggest .-.

i based it upon your points though :P like his passive being useless his crows having short range and are uncontrollable the added movement speed as for blind allow me to revise this Q i suggested ^^

Q and he strikes terror in the hearts freezing opponents instead of making them run away in fear ( 0,5 - 1 -1,25 seconds) fiddle stacks the terror on his opponent when fiddle fears an opponent for the third time blind terror is applied instead of fear and the opponent shuts its eyes and, instead of freezing at the spot they run way from fiddlesticks taking X amount of dps, due to the immense terror within their heart? ^^

i'd love to see fiddle reworked either by your suggestions or mine ^^ or mixed .o. its way better than he is now ^^

i just realize i said blind..i meant to say reduce vision....but i also think hed be more viable in this cc dependant game with your suggestion and btw i reread my post to you and i didnt mean to seem aggressive and btw with your changes i feel his ult wud be so much easier to use

haha don't worry i didn't take it as aggressive ^^

''reduced vision'' as with nocturne? global or fixed radius? O.O

recently riot makes champions tankier and more mobile .-. fiddle can be build tanky but he will always lack mobility :/ its the main issue atm with some champions including fiddle^^

nah thats not the case i mean you didn't make fiddle op its just that all of his skills are aoe, which means he can easily fear 5 opponents with any skill since non of these skills are skillshots .-. fear will always be XD its in my opinion a little too much XD the rest seems balanced to me ^^

fiddle is actually one of the first champions, if not the first i unlocked^^ i main him for a long time now :P i prefer nerfs over buffs since it comes with a challenge to play the champion XD but i agree on a rework^^ some champions are simply falling behind ._.

TNHA Baritone1 votes

The reduce vision would be in a fixed radius. I just wanted to give him that 'OH ITS FIDDLE BETTER WATCH OUT" Cause let's be honest. People walk out of his ult when he Zhonyas

i usually fear at least 1 opponent b4 i zhonya XD but yeah these days they just walk out practically unscathed .-. and when zhonya is finished so are you ._. they burst you to death in like half a second 0.0

I definitely feel like Fiddlestick's most problematic parts are his passive, something so abstract I could see any mage have it, and his Q, a point and click hard cc with no strategy. Your current idea for his passive and q fits a lot thematically and I could see some decision making around them, but I feel like it doesn't help his identity much.

He still has his drain untouched, which is good, but I don't see too many reasons to pick him outside of that when compared to other champs. His current identity is a fragile mage-jungler with very high sustain, would these changes make him more teamfight oriented with the additional AoE and ability cooldown interaction? What is he able to do that a typical AP tank isn't able to do should they build AP?

TNHA Baritone1 votes

I feel like these change give him the ability to go in with his ult do dmg and still DO MORE than jut stand still and drain. The vision deprivation would been good for getting people caught or confused and the Fear and silence would allow for peel / securing.

Earthlord Jazz1 votes

I really really like that passive

LegacyDAP1 votes

2 second ult fear sounds op. So you might want to give it a high cooldown. Basically it'll be like a Gragas ult that stuns after.

TNHA Baritone1 votes

It's at lvl 16, giving him some scaling cc

I'm glad that I am not the only one who thinks Fiddles should get a rework. I like the changes you made and thought i would say some of mine that I have been thinking about. His passive I created is called "On Edge". When you auto attack or hit someone with your Q(not fear, thinking of a scythe based attack that does AP damage in a line maybe, medium range) a stack of On Edge is applied(will start to decay when out of combat). There is a max of 5 stacks. If you land a fear on someone with On Edge stacks they are consumed and deal additional damage. I think there should be a small cooldown for when a stack can be applied again after consuming. If a person is feared while having 5 max stacks the fear time is doubled along with strong AP damage.

I like the drain still but was thinking of changing Dark Wind to fear champions instead of silence. A bouncing fear would be interesting and gives extra damage to dark wind, being able to proc the stacks of On Edge. Lastly I want to add a fear affect to Crow Storm. When a champion is first hit they are feared for 1.2 seconds or something. After the initial 1.2 seconds the enemy can't be feared again by Crow Storm until the next use but still can be feared by Dark Wind. This makes fiddles ult even more impactful in team fights being able to fear and disrupt the other team along with doing damage. This also stops from getting focused down immediately which is a serious problem until you get Hourglass.

I have been having trouble thinking of a good Q move but think that it should utilize the scythe and offer some more damage to his kit. Fiddlesticks Fiddlesticks Fiddlesticks

TNHA Baritone2 votes

THEN HE WOULD WORK WITH RUNEGLAIVE

BlackVenom651 votes

Pls check my rewprk post, it includes his scythe and a few passive buffs to the fear

BluePolarizer1 votes

I think fiddle should be balanced around him being an ADC. crittlesticks ftw!

Nekusen1 votes
  • Fear: making the target not move outside the range of his Drain (limiting its movement to that range), or just making fear extend the max tether range of Drain (for that target) for a few seconds. ** This could prevent using Fear ends up shooting Fiddles in his own foot.

  • Passive: could additionally give Fiddlesticks a movement speed buff while he has a debuffed target (or 2.5 secs after dealing magic damage/using Fear), or at least a movement speed buff while moving towards a debuffed target or a target he recently attacked. ** Would either help him disengage or allow him keep up in a fight.

  • Ult: - less initial casting time, - less cooldown, - less (burst) damage, + a slightly longer duration ** This would allow him to use his ult to disengage and add some mobility, the cooldown wouldn't be insanely low, just enough for it to be usable to jump walls or "flash" into targets.

  • MR/Armor: His thematic is him being made of wet tissues but having drain to compensate, but he could use better scaling Armor and MR so he doesn't melt in mid-lategame, though mobility options would make him more about strategic play, he could get some more of a "high defense, low health" thing.

rework fiddle pls

Nedward1 votes

I think if he could move without breaking his drain (at a substantial speed reduction, of course, can't get too op) in addition to the changes shown here... That'd be fantastic, and would make Fiddlesticks not only viable, but fun to play again. Fiddles was, at the time I started playing, my main... So I'm more than a little attached to him.

Or perhaps some added mobility, like with Lissandra's claw, applied to dark wind.

BlackVenom651 votes

I have to agree, chck my rework idea and tell me if you see any oppertunities there (no numbers included because i suck in that.

SamShazzam1 votes

The only thing I would say is you can't really take the bounce out of the e imo. It is the main success factor for the e I think, reliably silencing targets in a fight, reaching off minions, bouncing between two targets to reapply silence and damage, etc. The aoe sounds nice, but I see the bounce as more efficient. Also, the old passive may fit well on his ult ;)

Please check out my Fiddlesticks rework ideas and see if there are any changes i could possibly make beside adding numbering
