Why Not Make Crit Increase Basic Attack Damage?

Remember when League of Legends had dodge in it? They removed it because it was an unhealthy mechanic that relied more on luck to do well. In that case, why not rework crit chance? Right now, it's almost completely up to chance (there are some deviations depending on how much you crit), and it can make or break a laning phase or a game. A better way to do crit would be to make each 1% of crit increase your basic attack damage by 1%, increased to 1.5% if you have infinity edge. That way, crit basically has the same effect, without the randomness.

There actually is a reason crit works the way it does; it forces you to buy a certain amount of it (at least 2 items), for it to actually be a reliable damage increase. Imagine how many more champs would buy IE if it was just a straight 30% increased damage from auto attacks, for example.

Dodge and crit are completely different to each other.

Crit gives a chance to deal more damage, but you are always doing damage, so it feels more like an enhancement to something you already get. Dodge on the other hand, is far more Binary as it gives the player a chance to either receive full damage or no damage. This is the reason it was removed.

When it comes to making crit increase basic attack damage, I'm not sure if that is a good idea.

if these changes happen then any champ who relies on auto attacks (including non adcs) will just build crit items to do more damage

Then it's not critical strike CHANCE, it's literally just bonus AD.

IDK why 15 people upvoted this; it's just not a good idea. Riot wouldn't do this even if they went crazy and agreed; they would just remove crit from the game, IE would be an AD version of Rabadon's, and all crit-AS items would give AD.

Not healthy at all.

The only way I would be ok with that, is if they made crit items more expensive as well. Otherwise it would be too strong / welcome to league of crit.

Isn't that just AD......

Crit = % increase of attack damage?

I like that idea but it seems extremely over powered. At the most, critical strikes amplify AD to about 300% crit damage with runes at 100% crit chance.

What you're proposing is making the damage 100% reliable regardless of build, so where would the compensation be? It would definitely need to be around 150% scaling at the max.

with champs that get 500 ad increasing that to 1500 isnt exactly my ideal lol match, besides this would be a poor design then because then every ad bruiser/assassin would just build 100% crit then have their abilities hyper scale, a good example of a flaw would be darius (juggernaut) his q scales with about 125% ad at max lvl and with a passive that increases his ad by 200 at lvl 18, a 2000 ad darius would be a little game breaking. as his q would do around 3k damage alone.
