How do I freakin Riven!?!?

Packun Flower··3 votes·1,240 views

I am trying really really hard to learn Riven top. But honestly it just feels like she loses every possible matchup in that lane. Also i dunno if its me but i ran 45% cdr Riven a few games and her cooldowns still seem obnoxiously high.

Is a bruiser build better for her? Full AD? Tank?

Any help would be appiciated.

Thanks.

To truly get good at Riven you have to become a master of toxicity. Once you get that down, you'll be unstoppable.

generally its proven that you cant efficiently auto attack cancell if you have like more than 70 ping.

This is true, I can't play certain champs like Riven or even Syndra at home with my 85ping.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdDcVv3qWFI&t=11s&list=WL&index=90 In a nutshell. This combo will help you get better as Riven, It takes practice but you will get the hang of it.

As for masteries, depends on the match up. But personally I perfer Fervor over thunderlords because the combo will give you bounce AD in trades and will make your passive and abilities hit harder. Besides, 45% CDR is good but it wont matter if you cant do damage towards tanks and burst squishy targets into oblivion.

Im a filthy Riven main and I understand how Riven works to a point it will help you climb in ranked if you master her.

Also Riven is best LoL girl in my opinion.

Knowing your damage and the teamfighting combo's will be better at winning games, although this helps winning lane more tho.

You basically have to one trick her.

I am trying really really hard to learn Riven top. But honestly it just feels like she loses every possible matchup in that lane.

You need to work out how to weave AAs in between her spells. Her passive is ~40% of her damage so you can't afford to give it up. When you're weaving autos reasonably well you shouldn't struggle as much in lane, if you can work out cancling you should be straight up dominant.

Also i dunno if its me but i ran 45% cdr Riven a few games and her cooldowns still seem obnoxiously high.

Her CD's are fairly low. At 40/45% CDR you should always have a skill to cast. One thing is that when you weave in AAs you can't spam quite as fast, so your spells tend to chain into each other well.

Good items would be item 3071 item 3074 item 3156 item 3814 item 3142 item 3139 item 3036 . You're going to be favouring AD, but items with AD and durability are amazing. item 3143 or item 3742 are good items against AD heavy teams at some point but you can't rush them, you need to rush for AD. item 3026 is probably also a core defensive item later into the game, 4th or 5th item against every team.

Honestly, Riven is the hardest champ to learn for me. It took me a long time to understand her, but now I'm one game away from completing my mastery 7 rank on her!

How I learned her was by playing her into some of her toughest opponents, like Malphite, Tryndamere, and Renekton. I failed a lot, but I learned the most out of that. I learned when I can go all in and when I need to hug turret. I learned when I can go in for a multi-kill and when I should just wait for another teamfight. I learned how to wait out enemy cooldowns and when I should activate my ult.

I have a specific mastery page for almost all of the champs I regularly play, but for Riven I have two. I use one I call "Riven Light" that uses the Thunderlord's keystone. This mastery is for matchups against less tanky opponents that I want to burst down quickly, such as Yasuo. I have another one called "Riven Heavy" for matchups against tankier champs, and on that I use the Courage of the Colossus keystone.

I tried Riven a couple times and left with a greater respect for Riven players. I though you could just smash buttons at random like Yasuo and build anything and still get carry but no. Riven actually takes skill to play. Must have played her like 20 times and fed every game with her. Never carried or even went even with her. My 2nd game with Yasuo I got 2 quadras after feeding in the early game. Riven is a deceptively difficult champion to play.

r/RivenMains has loads of helpful information

Other than that, print out a 3D Riven sculpture shrine and pray to Boxbox every night.

How to Riven =

Passive = Hit stuff after you hit stuff

Q = Yeah! Attack!

W = Whoops! (70% of time) No (30% of time)

E = I go here

R = I want kill. I keel you now.

In the video he is actually moving his mouse around (behind himself) but wouldn't it be faster to have a bound attack move button? So rather than moving the mouse you would simply use right click to issue a movement command and then your hotkey (mine is a button on my mouse) to issue the attack move command rather than having to click on the target?
