ARURF still has like 20sec queue times. You may not like it, but tons do.
Regular URF wasn't people picking anything niche. Nobody made random, out of the blue picks to 'have fun' unless it was a full slotted custom game. People picked from the same roster of about 20 champs, and set to making fast-win strats out of rushes, builds and level orders. Being able to lock down lanes as early as level 2 because you picked your lane out
doesn't make the game fun for those of us who do enjoy the opportunity to play uncommon picks. We just don't want to pick uncommon against your roster of 'do gud' runners. ARURF addresses the one literal problem with URF, and the people who are decrying it are roughly separated into one of two categories:
- You're mad because the all-random aspect means getting champs you can't play/don't like,
- You're mad because there's no opportunity to test things and have fun.
The former means you're playing the wrong game mode; the latter means you're playing with the wrong people. The queue is just an all random game mode for fun, there's barely any competitive element (what little there was in URF is roughly gone).
What we need is URF in bots, so we can pick whoever the hell we really want. But I think URF and ARURF are just two separate game modes, and some people enjoy ARURF and some enjoy URF and they don't necessarily overlap just because of the URF part.
