TFT just proves riot is incapable of balancing a game

I, for the first time ever, am in first place in tft, the closest to me has 50 points, I have 93. I have 3 three star champions, the rest are 2 star except Yasuo who i just opened, for 5 fucking coins who didn't help shit and isn't available early enough, anyways. 3 three champions, 3 two star champions, a yasuo, and a veigar. The difference between a three star and two star is immense, thats 6 more champions I bought. I got fucking steam rolled by the fucking 2 stars. Like riot sell the rights to this game to a capable team.

Edit* and yes my team was packed with items too.

Synergies and items matter a lot. Three stars won't always help you if the enemy has better synergies going or better itemization.

Synergy or none, me losing 18 champions for 3 should still mean something.

3 star champs are a trap. Well, not a trap exactly, all else being equal a 3 star champ will beat a 2 star champ. But the strategy of the game is not about picking up the most 3 star champs. It's about team composition. Thinking for the long term as to how you want to reach your win condition.

Now one method of winning quickly is to mass as many big multistar units as you can and steamrolling people. But unless you win quickly this strategy will eventually get beaten by people who manage to get their late game team. For example, I won a game recently when I was in my 30s against someone who still had 90+ hit points, and to do it I sold my 3 star Mordekaiser and replaced him with a 1 star Kayle. Why? Because that gave me 6 Nobles and 6 Nobles is an amazing late game comp. I think when I won the game I actually still had two 1 star champs on my team, including that Kayle. But because their synergies were so strong I just steamrolled the opponent, he did not win another match against me even though individually all his units were 2 or 3 stars.

So synergy and items beats stars more often? Good to know, as I keep losing later games.

It gets to the point where I can’t even kill camps.

Oh definitely, to go with that one game that I won. My teamcomp at the end was Fiora, Garen, Lucian, Vayne, Kayle, Leona, Sejuani, Volibear, Chogath.

6 Nobles means that entire team gets 100 armor and heal on hit. Kayle and Garen and Sejuani are knights so in addition they take 20 less damage from all attacks. Volibear and Chogath are Brawlers so they gain an additional 300 health. While Sejuani and Volibear are Glacial so they have a 20% chance to stun anyone they hit. And since everyone is so tanky they throw out a lot of attacks so they're getting that bonus multiple times a fight.

And I was thinking of dumping that Sejuani for a Braum. Still would have gotten the Glacial bonus with Voli, Kayle and Garen would have still gotten the knight bonus. But Leona and Braum grants the Guardian bonus which means all adjacent units gain 40 armor. Who cares if he's only level 1 if I place him in a position so that my Fiora, Lucian, and Vayne legitimately no longer take damage from anything?

It's really insane how they can all add up.

So how often did you upgrade your exp between rounds? I’m always on the fence about when to upgrade.

I had a sorc wild brawler comp because i went wild/brawler and it kept giving me AP items, so i made my chogath a sorc with a deathcap and a shojin

I murdered everyone, then lost once to the first place guy at the end because he got a demon to proc on my fucking cho.

Cho literally 1 shot everything, it was great. I deserved a win for that big brain play :/

So hilarious watching 4 3 star assassins just instadie.

False, Syngery means a ALOT. Also, depending on the champs a 2star can > 3 star.

It’s too rng, but it plays like a Mario kart game where the lower players usually get better champion options and items then the first place champion, but they still usually lose cause it’s to late.

That's called counter play, one comp might counter the other one. Not to talk about positionating, item synergies etc :)

late game champs are also better than early game champs you know.. a Rank2 Draven is gonna be better than a rank3 Lucian, Vayne, Tristana- just an example.

Items matter more than anything, I won with a 1-star A-Sol carrying because he is just disgusting with good items.

Either

  1. your synergies were bad

  2. your items werent used efficiently

  3. your positioning was bad

Or

  1. the enemy synergies were designed to do well into you

I still don’t understand positioning in tft.

I still don’t understand positioning in tft.

Units attack the closest thing they are able to.

Blitzcrank hooks the furthest unit he is able to

Assassins jump to the furthest unit they are able to

Units will move the least number of tiles they can to get in range of an enemy

Units can only move to an unocupied square (meaning you can put your squishy in a corner and assassins cant jump to them if theyre surrounded by units)

Buffs at the start apply all game and only affect tiles connected to that unit, unless otherwise specified

So, generally, you want tanky between your squishies and the enemy comp, unless its an assassin comp in which you want them in a corner or in the middle

Blitzcrank needs an open space next to him to pull.

Etc.

That explains why my ADCs and mages keep dying! Thanks.
