Why can't Aatrox heal off of towers?
Even though someone like Xin Zhao can?
Even though someone like Xin Zhao can?
Cause Aatrox Ends with x and Xin Zhao Starts with X.
Never thought of it like that
The reason that Aatrox can't heal off of towers but Xin can is because of his Q. There are significant advantages to playing that far under someones tower, but there are also risks. Xin has no escape, so he puts himself in a very dangerous position if he tries to use his heal on the tower. Aatrox, on the other hand, has a long range escape on his Q, so he could freely hit the tower as much as he likes and simply Q out if the enemy laner tries to punish him for doing so.
Im pretty sure it's the "x" splaination

Sadly, Aatrox Q is unreliable enough that usually, it doesn't matter.
Plus, Xin and most other champions could just walk away when they see you. Aatrox only gets a couple extra hits in.
I'm not talking about hitting the tower when they're not in lane. I'm talking about hitting the tower when they're right there. If the enemy tries to punish you for doing so, they take creep aggro and you can either Q away or all in them right there with your ult and bloodwell. Even without his W working on towers, this is bread and butter Aatrox gameplay.

Then why would it matter whether or not his W worked or didn't? Surely they're either strong enough to stop you initially, or they aren't and you'll just walk away once they are because if they weren't, they clearly can't have become strong enough to fight you outside of tower range.
Because if my W works on towers, it also means I can charge my W on towers. This can force the enemy into lose-lose scenarios very easily since I can either charge up my damage W for a dive or further my lead in lane by healing off the tower. I doubt having W work on towers would break Aatrox since he's not that great regardless but this is likely Riot's initial reasoning on why he can't W towers.

I don't see the problem, 9/10 times there's gonna be minions around for him to charge it on as well.
If you're fed enough that they won't engage you even when you're hitting their tower, i don't think it matters if his W heals him or not.
What? I get you can Cc him during Q, but it's a really strong ability when not canceled. And enemies don't always have Cc off cd, or are range to hit u, or even have CC

It's a delayed ability and he's a sitting duck for fast projectiles when he casts it.
Like every CC ability is delayed too. Sure it's not difficult to cancel, but it's undeniably strong.

Meh, Sion's really the only one with delayed CC. And Cho Q. And Zac E. Naut R, technically, but it can't be dodged.
The thing is, it's delayed mobility, and one of the only forms of it. Which makes it weak.

The same reasoning can be applied to Irelia being able to heal off turrets. Neither has a reliable way out unless they plan for it.
Aatrox' ability is called bloodthirst. He is thirsting for blood. What do towers not? Bleed.
Xin Zhaos ability on the other hand is called battle cry. Even while I stand at a tower, I can cry for battle.

Well, you can't prove it's the towers blood. ¯\(ツ)/¯ Maybe Darius got a bit clumsy and cut himself.
Probably because if Blood Thirst procs on towers, for consistency's sake, so would Blood Price, which is probably the part they take issue with.

But where's the issue there?

Builds his passive, and Riot doesn't like split pushing, which that would help with.
I actually think it'd be fine if he had it, just speculating as to why it doesn't work that way.
If they hate split pushing then why is Tryndamere a thing...
Because something something drawing blood from a stone.
