Dear RIOT: An idea for the S5 dual Nexus turrets

With preseason coming a lot of changes will be coming to League, including changes to the turrets. As mentioned HERE, in RIOT's recent "diversifying objectives" article they still have not decided what to do with the innermost nexus turrets. So I have an idea that will diversify gameplay and promote intelligent playstyle.

With the inhibitor turrets being described as a "powerful energy beam that deals damage, slows the target, and reduces their damage output. When focused on the same target, the beam ramps up in its damage very quickly, making that minion-bloated split pusher think twice about diving against a reasonably strong opponent under the tower". I feel like the dual Nexus turrets should pick up the pace further as well as have something that makes them unique regarding their dual turret aspect.

The two Nexus turrets should provide a passive 20% speed and damage debuff to enemy champions in their range while both towers remain in-tact. If you destroy one, the field dissipates. The Nexus turrets should fire twice as fast as the outermost turrets and deal small radius AoE damage on impact, about 2/3 the size of Anivia's Q detonation. This AoE damage would deal full damage to enemy Champions but would scale off much like Tiamat with 20-60% damage done in the splash when hitting Minions (and super minions).

Doing this would diversify the stage of gameplay where one team is in the others base attacking their Nexus turrets by forcing them to rely more on Minions than straight up tanking the turrets and taking the Nexus seconds later. It would also promote intelligent positioning (and re-positioning by the enemy) in order to dodge or capitalize on the turrets AoE splash on minions.

What do you think? What would YOU like Riot to do with the Nexus turrets?

A bit too strong, but definitely interesting.

I don't want any changes to the nexus turrets. With 2 turrets they're already a lot harder to dive before late game. With 5 defenders, clearing 3 waves quickly isn't that hard either. They're already the ultimate turtle location. Nothing is worse than a game where you reach nexus turrets at 25min and end up losing at 45min because you had first pick and the rest of your team decided it would be a good idea to pick champions that resulted in minimal poke and poor teamfight capabilities and the other team turtled for 15min when you were ahead. I've had such games where we take 2 Barons and can't even push them down.
