[PSA] Bruisers: Why assassins are not one of them but Skirmishers are

DragonShea··4 votes·3,298 views

May people like to talk about bruister thinking that it includes fighters alone. WRONG It is a term for all melees that want to fight close and personal. Assassin are not bruiser for one reason. they don't want and cannot afford to fight upfront. They can only stay in melee range for a short time before getting out because they will get stomped.

Fighters: Juggernauts + Divers. Bruisers: Fighter(Juggernauts + Divers) + Skirmishers.

Skirmishers are nearly as frail as assassins but have defensive tools that allow them to fight upfront while assassins can't.

i think skirmishers are just miscategorized with assassins.

technically theyd belong to the group of fighters aswell. i think the only reason riot threw them together with assassins is because they wanted to have 2 sub classes for each major class of champions.

so they made the class of "assassins" with the subclasses "skirmisher" and "slayer".

Jax Fiora MasterYi Riven Yasuo theyre playing very similar to the other fighters and their role is the same as sustained damage carries. the only difference is that theyre generally even a bit squishier than divers and even more mobile.

and even thats not always true, considering jax is grouped in with them, and yasuo and riven can get quite tanky.

imo fighters are split into juggernauts, divers and skirmishers.

Weirdly, they're even grouped with Fighters in champ select.

In other words let skirmishers be a part of the fighter class, fair enough that is a good point.

However in my books Skirmishers lack one thing that fighters have, and that is raw tankiness, they lack the potential to be off tanks as they can only take a few hits while divers, especially Juggs can take a lot of damage and stay in the fight.

Lumping skirmisher into the fighter class would just make people assume they are durability when they are not.

Survivability =/= Durability.

They are different aspects of this same thing, which is sustained melee damage.

One set has more upfront tankiness through stats, with less powerful defensive options, along with lower dps

The other is primarily squishy, but have mobility and powerful defensive options to help them mitigate damage, along with the best mitigation, making their enemies die as fast as possible

Yay so they can't serve the role of taking damage for their team

True, their defensive tools are meant to save themselves but not their allies. Fighters can at least soak up some damage whereas Skirmishers get blown up.

I think you got the classes wrong.

Fighter (also known as Bruiser): Juggernaut + Diver Slayer: Assassin + Skirmisher

Skirmishers are usually more inclined to go amore tanky,a s they have sustained damage patterns, and they often do use 'bruiser-builts', so a mix of defense and offence. They usually are inclueded in the term 'bruiser' because they can funktion as one depending on the built. Assasins usually do not support those builts in the same way, and the few that do are pretty much on the line between assasins and skirmisher, like old fizz and ekko.
