Kayn needs some buffs and tweaks

His kit overall is cool, but a great deal bugs me about the champion. He is meant to be a Carry and as of right now, he's not carrying. Aside from being a mostly melee champion, he has some reach, but other than that he is lackluster. His early game is weak. I get most carrys are lategame, but Kayn never hits a sufficient enough power spike to validate him. Yes both transformations offer a spike, but nothing at all to validate him being played over other champions. He is Yasuo without the dashing and crit. Yasuo without the dashing and crit is nothing.

I have tried various builds against various champions and nothing you do can validate him as he is. His Shadow mode offering more damage, but not enough and is trash tier on release. His Darkin form is better, but not by much. His shadow form is being out damaged and isn't fast enough to make up for it. His Darkin form is easily out tanked/out skirmished and though it has more sustain, your not keeping up with the xins and the yasuo's and the vaynes.

Have you ever tried to face machine gun tank LuLu with Kayn. It's depressing that some flower fairy is outbursting/outspeeding/out damaging/out kitting/ a "reaper". Her utility with attack speed/tank items is crazy. She is fullfiling the fantasy better than Kayn ever could.

Kayn's q and W dont activate on hit affects as neither one is considered an AA, I understand w, but Q should. I keep being knocked out of walls when in e and someone attacks me in this mode, basically making it useless. His R allows the enemy team to walk me into their turret or their team and you get straight jacked up.

Lethality barely works on him. Doing anything with crit means giving up the cooldowns needed. Tank means 0 damage. You can't win. He needs to be buffed. He is a skirmisher/assassin. The fantasy and the actual don't match and is a huge let down for the scythe champion many of us wanted. That is fairly evident with his 41/43% win rate as a carry. I got my first S- on the champion with a score of 3/1/2 and that is fairly sad when most carrys aren't getting s ranks without at least like 17 kills.

That's just my piece as of right now.

Perhaps they should balance each form to work with a specific type of build?

Like Tune Rhaast around using something like a core build of item 1400 item 3071item 3742 or item 1400 item 3078 item 3053 or item 1400 item 3071 item 3812 With the option of replacing cinderhulk for warrior if you need to be more tanky (Maybe Cinderhulk might even be a bit better considering his %hp on everything).

Then tune Shadow Assassin around using something like item 1412 item 3147 item 3142 or item 1412 item 3087 item 3031 or item 1412 item 3071 item 3026

As for solo lane..

Let's face it if you take Kayn top his squishy ass has to contend with fun things like Fiora Pantheon Maokai Tryndamere Irelia Teemo Poppy Sion Vayne Riven Darius Talon Renekton Garen Jayce Kennen

A lot of common picks top lane are annoying to 1v1 even if you're a Rhaast let alone a Shadow Assassin without any sustain. There are just too many hairy match ups and annoying champions to fight in top lane to justify taking Kayn as a regular pick right now. It might be possible to balance him as a Jng / top with just some small buffs to him pre-transformation and maybe a slight buff on his W. I'd say more than likely W -> Q Max would be the way to go with his skills on top lane you're basically going to just keep poking them until you get a chance to all in.

Buildwise If you take him mid you encounter things like Syndra Annie Anivia Malzahar Kassadin Leblanc Fizz Talon Zed Orianna TwistedFate Ekko Karthus Cassiopeia

That tend to assassinate targets better or roam better or scale better or provide more utility / power to a teamfight than kayn. Oh, and while mages are still around as more common picks than Assassins they'll generally have a poke advantage in lane. Basically if he's a strong choice mid riot probably overbuffed him.

Jungle wise it's a bit too slow to get his Rhaast or Shadow Assassin transformation and he's kinda weak pre-transformation. if you don't get really ahead with good ganks to transform early and a lot of farm he's basically worthless the whole game. It feels like a very feast or famine playstyle. When he does get a big lead he's a bit obnoxious to play against and when he doesn't its basically a free win for the enemy team. I've got a feeling that he's really close to balanced and only needs some small changes to catchup. Clear wise it seems starting raptors -> Red -> Blue -> clear blue side -> Gank is really good on kayn. His q at level one just decimates the raptor camp.

His ult feels a bit weak and a lot of weird shit can hit you in it just like Alpha strike... It's excellent for tower dives like Elise's E but its low damage can troll you if you're trying to use it as a execute.

In the process of making this post... I realized I've not tried Cinderhulk into full tank Rhaast yet. I guess it's time to experiment if I can get a match as him after some sleep.
