Ranked System Comment - Very Insightful Into the Ranked System and its Flaws

Hey, so here's a conversation from a guy named Blackjax137 on this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UfO7qOHx5M). It's pretty insightful to the whole ranked system in general imo, so I figured I'd share it

"Low ELO = "I'm trying to climb, I'm trying to have fun but that useless retard is ruining both and flaming everyone else for his stupid mistakes." High ELO = "OMG U GAV3 FIRZT BLUD I AFK EBAY ACCOUNTS!" Meanwhile, on the forums: "Learn to carry your team, scrubs, then you'll climb."

High ELO is full of the most egotistical children with god complexes that live and breathe League. Low ELO is full of people that just do not give a shit because they cannot sink any lower.

Meanwhile, I'm stuck in Platinum 3 and I can honestly say... It's limbo. Diamond players can complain about Diamond being more toxic than Low ELO and Low ELO can complain about Low ELO being more toxic than Diamond... But neither have anything on platinum. Without word of a lie. I lose more games in Platinum due to toxic trolls than I did in Bronze.

Your comparison is spot on. New players are starting Bronze, getting toxic due to the trolls and when they reach Diamond, they become egotistical because they've finally got there and will rage at anyone that even dares topple the king off his high horse. They cannot leave these games to avoid that.

In the end, it's the players that will decide if you win or lose. The first team to have a rage quitter, a 0/10 at 20 minutes fresh out of tutorial or a troll that will just feed intentionally because a kill was secured. If someone in real life went "it's my way or the highway" then you'd immediately tell them to screw off and move along... You just cannot do that in game.

Until Riot can break the cycle, force people to play 1000 games before ranked and ban the real people behind ruining the game, it will only get worse. DOTA 2 is getting League players daily and those players are sticking there, Heroes of the Storm usually has 3 million online in EUW alone during the 'buy your way in' closed beta. If the community itself doesn't kill League of Legends, then its competitors will due to Riot's inaction."

This guy just hit all the right points. I'm in Bronze 5 right now, and I don't care, because at the end of the day the only difference between a shitty Bronze 5 and a shitty Diamond 1 is that one has a shiny medal to fall back on. My best advice: don't play ranked. Just don't. Believe me, that medal really won't be worth all the stress and frustration. This is just my opinion however, so if you either agree or disagree with any points, I'd be happy to hear your point of view. Thanks, and GLHF on the Rift.

I have a Diamond V medal and it's way prettier than a Bronze medal.

Totally worth it in my opinion, sorry.

What do you get out of it though? At the end of the day, it's just a symbol on your computer screen that you worked hours upon hours for. I understand what you're saying, and if you want to climb the ladder, go ahead. I suppose it's a lot easier to climb as someone in your position with high MMR, because people at that level won't waste others' time (hopefully). But at Bronze 5, what's the point? It'd probably take a solid 3 months of playing ranked everyday to climb, and that's assuming that I have a 50/50 win ratio (i.e. I win a game, I lose a game). It just doesn't seem worth wasting time I'd rather do normals, where I can break the meta.

tbh you find just as many toxic players in normals as you do in ranked.

Only difference is that eventually you filter out the genuinely bad players and the quality of games increases. I'd rather have a Diamond rage than a Bronzie rage because most of the time they actually know what they're ranting about. And honestly, the best way to play Ranked is to walk on egg shells if someone seems a bit ragey, and then act as a mediator if stuff starts to get out of control.

It's the nature of MMO games. You're matched with 3-4 complete strangers, and you all have to try to get along. Sometimes this doesn't happen. Sometimes you get along perfectly. A lot of the time it's just controlled chaos that's an inch away from blowing up in your face.

What can you do about it personally? Check your ping before you load into a game. Make sure your computer is up to the task of running LoL competently. Act nice. Ask for two of your more preferred roles. State your worst role - there's always someone who would be happy to play a role if it means the team will have a better chance of winning. Communicate only when necessary. Download Curse Voice. The more people that use Curse Voice, the more useful the program becomes. If you can get a full team on Curse Voice you already have an advantage.
