Riot, if you didn't remove game modes, you'd have almost about as many as Dota2

Right now, the only thing we have is Summoner's Rift, ARAM (which is just a summoner's rfit cliff notes edition), Twisted Treeline and TFT.

If you kept the modes you had, you'd have... ahem: Nexus Siege Dominion URF Acension Twisted Treeline One for All(Summoner's Rift) One for All(Howling Abyss) Nexus Blitz Summoner's Rift ARAM TFT Hunt of the Blood Moon Nexus Blitz Hexakill(Summoners Rift) Hexakill(Twisted Treeline) Legend of the Poro King Nexus Blitz Doom Bots of Doom Nexus Blitz Black Market Brawlers Snowdown Showdown Nemesis Draft Nexus Blitz NEXUS MOTHER OF ZOE FATHER OF TEEMO BLITZ... ._.

You would have 19 different modes for players to have loads and loads of variety to play in. Instead, you have 4, which since you're getting rid of Twisted Treeline, you'll soon have 3.

Also this isn't even including the Co-op game modes, like the Star Guardian event, the Totally not Guardians of the Galaxy event mode, that surprisingly fun Super Smash Bros Thresh Edition game, the all marksmen game mode and probably another mode that I missed.

Now am I expecting Riot to actually bring 19 different modes in? No. But really, even if you picked the most popular from this list, we'd have at least 10 different modes to play. Instead we only get Summoner's Rift, Summoner's Rift condensed edition, and the money grabbing RNG Little Legends mode.

TT is going away and TFT isn't League of Legends.

Riot just loves getting rid of shit.

you said Nexus Blitz twice. (not complaining just pointing it out)

Add Odyssey, I LOVE ODYSSEY

hexakill on twisted treeline was actually one of the most fun i ever had. 12 champs on a map that clearly isnt designed for more than 6 is just super fun. it had more action going on than urf

The thresh game mode is easily my favourite out of all of them and im not even a thresh player,

tft is free to play lol just like league, i dont understand why everyone points out that it is some money grabber like who tf actually cares about little legends

League doesn't have the population to fill these modes. It's just not what it used to be. Also TFT is a different game, not a different mode.

So we have 2. Sr and ARAM. Riot resisted ARAM for a long time against community complaints so don't expect much from them. They don't even know how to design ranked ARAM, which is laughably easy.

Nexus Blitz should have definitely stayed as a permanent gamemode. It felt the most like a "real" gamemode.

The real issue here is how all of this is still installed on our computers and we aren't allowed to access it until they say so with their servers.

Karunamon8/22/2019, 12:08:07 AM3 votes

And the funny thing is, most of the "fun" modes in DOTA2, like Autochess (which TFT is a nearly straight copy of), were player developed. Imagine what the community could do with Riot basically only needing to maintain a development kit rather than tens of additional modes.

Maybe this would be viable on the NA server, but on lower population servers like here in OCE, it just wouldn't work. I remember when team-builder was a thing and queues were so long because of the lack of population that people just stopped using it. Sitting in the queue for three hours before giving up and doing something else was not an uncommon occurrence. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that having so many queues to split the playerbase into would kill league in this region.

You also forgot Odyssey and the Star Guardian PvE

even if they don't bring back the other gamemodes, they should at least allow us to play them in custom games

Pxerkza8/22/2019, 12:58:10 PM2 votes

WC3 had plenty of game modes and the game is dead

86 Skillshots8/22/2019, 8:18:19 PM2 votes

Yeah but on the flipside, that is also X more modes they have to balance and X more items they have to balance. The balance team already has their hands full with the modes they do have. Imagine adding 10 more modes to that. Those poor folks would die lol

I was just talking to someone about this. The only thing holding Riot back is themselves. I understand that they might not have the man-power as some of the other mainstream mobas and therefore wouldn't be able to balance have all these game modes live 24/7, but like throw us a bone please. It's been forever since we've had a rotating game mode and custom lobbies are a joke. You make your players fall in love with these modes only for them to either never be seen or heard from again or make 1 yearly appearance.

In all honesty I think part of the problem lies within Ranked games getting the focus from both Riot and rioters. You always mention balancing champs mostly off how they perform in higher ranks/elos, which I'm not saying is a bad thing, but can we please take some focus off of rank and ranked games. I think this is part of the reason game modes don't get the numbers to stay live as people are either to focused on climbing ranked or practicing for their next ranked games. Like even in ARAM people will be like "I bet you're a silver/bronze player" like what does that have to do with anything?

You've created some wonderful modes and I just wish you would conduct player surveys on them to see why players did/didn't play them and what they like/hated about them and move forward.

CloakAndGrenade8/24/2019, 4:12:50 AM1 votes

But if Riot kept other game modes up they wouldn't be able to spend as much time adding more damage to the regular mode to ruin the meta more than they already have. And we can't have that.

why don't you guys play mmrpg if you like pve dugeon so much

Power Cosmic8/22/2019, 11:56:04 PM1 votes

Keeping game modes cost money. Just think of all the servers globally and how it would effect them, and, like I said before, the cost...

FullmuteAll play8/21/2019, 10:58:02 PM1 votes

Yeah I feel like they use additional maps just to artifically raise the player population when it is needed for stats

LordGeovanni8/24/2019, 6:35:13 AM1 votes

yeah but most of them would be just dead gamemodes Like TT and Riot would have to try balanced them all (hint they bearly want to balance Summoners rift and dont for TT and Aram)

Tynides8/24/2019, 1:50:34 AM1 votes

Honestly, I think that's a bit overboard actually. Just one or two game mode is enough for me. Have them both rotate so that the game modes cycle faster to reduce the time that you have to wait for the game modes you like. Basically, have 2 rotating game modes and we're good. No long wait time for the game modes you like and they rotate fast so the game doesn't feel boring.

Many game design studies prove that keeping arcade style modes is not good for the long term health of that game mode. Players binge them when they come out and gradually burn themselves out and start complaining about the mode which is why most modern games with arcade modes use a rotating style nowadays.
