Playing Aatrox during his free week

and While a pretty cool champion, decently strong overall but one little aspect of him needs improving

His Q, his gap closer

There are more than a few things wrong with it 1 - The distance is pretty short, despite it being claimed to be 650, it definitely is shorter than that 2 - The hitbox for the knock up is smaller than the inner circle indicates, best way to test it is on jungle creeps who will occasionally not be knocked up by it 3 - This is probably the most important The cast time, it is insanely long! It's like Aatrox flies into the air, contemplates life, takes a few sips of coffee, finishes off his scone... THEN decides to finally fly down

During this massive build up, he can be interrupted during any point of it AND the health cost is instant.

Actually now that I think about it, His big damage source is probably his W. Yet when I compare it to Udyr and Jax who arguably do the exact same thing, it really doesn't compare favorably

Despite paying a small chunk of his health, it only deals a pittance of 200 + 100% bonus AD For comparison sake, Spear Shot from Pantheon deals 225 + 140% Total AD. Udyr's Tiger deals 230 + 160% Total AD.

Pantheon and Udyr also don't get massive sustain on the same ability.

Doesn't matter if its on the same ability as long as its in the kit

Tbh Udyr and Pantheon is not a very good example to compare.

"Yet when I compare it to Udyr and Jax who arguably do the exact same thing, it really doesn't compare favorably" Udyr is a farm centric and opportunistic ganker. Sure he has some sustain, but its a combination of shield and minimal life steal where aatrox is just stright up chunk of hp gain. The dynamic of them is really different even though the end result is the same, you saved some hp. And udyr is 100% pure melee with no range ability where Aatrox has 2 and a half.

Udyr is usually not a good comparison case, since he is unique in the fact that he has no real ult, 100% melee and no jump. There is not really anything else on the rift like him. (Not saying he is strong or weak, just unique)

Pantheon is a ganking threat pre-6 and post-6. Post-6 when his ult is up, it makes opponent play differently so they don't give away a free gank to his ult. He certainly do not do the same thing as Aatrox. Unless you are specifically saying his non-ultimate gank is a stronger version of Aatrox's, then I would somewhat agree.

However, after saying all that, I do agree with you that Aatrox is weak, and his animation is slow. Its not just the knock up animation either. The missile speed on his slow, is well slow too. Consider the tip is so hard to hit, the missile speed of it should really be faster for a easier aim.

The only time I got Aatrox was when it was given to me during Nemesis draft, I did well but it still does not change the fact that he was given out during Nemesis Draft. Poor Aatrox, he used to be cool.
