Kassadin should not get outtraded in Melee range after level 6

ofart··12 votes·1,582 views

It's pretty pathetic to have a Karthus or Varus win 1vs1 against a Kassadin post-6 after he jumps on them. That just means Kassadin has zero presence along with no waveclear. Here's Varus happily poking away for 10 minutes and then still winning when Kassadin jumps on him. OK. Sounds fair. Kassadin is definitely not a useless champion.

Someone doesnt get the concept of item 3027 with zero stacks. Also, hitting 6 on Kass doesn't mean you automatically win the game. Level 6 Kass isnt a god

Remember season 2 kassadin? You had to sit behind tower at all times after kass hit 6 or blow up. Fun times

Yes but if you can't even win melee range vs poke champions and also lack a good waveclear tool, you basically just lose hard. Imagine if Akali used ult. and then Varus wins anyway. She'd be unplayable.

In fact kass only starts becoming slightly good around level 11.

kassadin has always had not great damage.

The myth of kassadins damage is kindof ridiculous.

Eedat1 votes

^no clue what he is talking about

Kass used to have ridiculous amounts of damage on top of insane mobility

CerealBoxOfDoom1 votes

incorrect, kass was never targeted for nerfs for his damage nor was his damage ever a real problem.

His damage was also NEVER high enough to reliably 100-0 people with heavy defense like leblanc or others unless extremely fed

The only people who ever complained about his damage were scrubs who didn't know when he got ahead or why

Kassadin's engage-disengage has been the issue and his sustained damage on top of his not defense and moderate damage was the issue, many champs couldn't deal with this, a very large portion of them in fact. Kassadin actually punished you for fighting back then could fall back on just escaping practically for free if he couldn't just end you which was usually the case BECAUSE HIS DAMAGE WASN'T THAT GREAT it was just difficult for anyone else to try and dictate trades in any way and his teleports in teamfights were annoying as shit.

Eedat2 votes

No, the problem was he did massive amounts of damage on top of his huge mobility. You have no idea what you're talking about lol you weren't even playing at that point

"used to" exactly. His bases got gutted years ago. His damage everywhere was stronger and he had a longer rift walk.

Yeah but he clearly is saying Kass always had bad damage, so I'm correcting him

Compared to something like Viktor, I doubt Kassadin deals even half the DPS in a teamfight while having an abysmal early game.

Eedat1 votes

Well Viktor is immobile while Kass has crazy mobility. That's not apples to apples. Besides, Viktor early game isn't great either. He needs a fully upgraded core plus an item before really comes online. Not as bad as Kass early game, but definitely not good either

Not really, Viktor has speedups, shields and hard CC. It's WAY easier for him to be effective in a teamfight than a Kass who has to basically jump in. The mobility doesn't make him easier to play since he's melee. Viktor's natural range is worth more than all of Kassadin's mobility.

Thats just not true lol. Kass is in a balanced state right now but there was a day where Kass would riftwalk onto a squishy target, drop his combo, insta-kill them, then zhonyas. When his zhonyas was over he could just riftwalk back out or on to his next target. It was impossible to focus him down, chase, catch him out, or escape from a kass and he would just hunt you down even after you flashed away. Nobody could 1v1 him which made split pushing impossible because he would come and run you down. He had insane carry potential on top of the insane mobility which gave him crazy roam potential, pick potential, map pressure, and team fight presence.

He was literally pick/ban from LCS all the way down to Bronze with everything in between. He literally had a 98% ban rate because he was so busted. Now that he's in the middle ground where he isn't an absolute monster, people want him buffed again because they don't remember what Kass is like when he's strong?

Kass is absolutely fine and is in need of absolutely ZERO buffs what-so-ever. People don't remember shit man I swear. Then we have people like this who are saying Viktor is as mobile as Kass. Lmao.

I'm not saying they're equally mobile. I'm saying Viktor does damage and controls a fight far more easily than Kassadin even though he lacks a dash.

no offense but if you lose to a karthus you shouldn't play kassadin.

if you pick kass and expect to win every matchup at level 6 you shouldn't play kassadin. no champion should be able to win every single matchup at level 6 and scale like a monster into the lategame he's not useless, you just need to learn his playstyle

Kassadin late game scaling is a myth. If he hasn't snowballed and is on equal gold to the opposing mid, he's way worse than most of them. He is amazing at closing out games where you're ahead but if he's ever behind, he's squishy shit with limited CC and waveclear.

TWITCHTV ERONATE1 votes

i've never seen someone more right than you. every viktor/cassiopeia that ends up having the same gold as me just dominated teamfights. you need to snowball the lane before they can outteamfight you/outscale you (since mages scale just as hard as kass)

i think his waveclear is decent though. if you have e + glp, the problem is that it has really low range

Between trash and OP, there is a middleground.

dunder kill3 votes

He's at the middleground right now. Insta-winning the game when you hit 6 is not "middleground". That is "broken OP"

I agree that Kass should be quite formidable up close, especially against ranged magic damage champs. However, I belive he is statistically in a fairly good spot.

He may move up or down a tier with no changes at all just from the preseason fallout. I for one am very excited for the removal of locket :)

Saying a MELEE champion who absolutely gets abused by poke and just autoing should win AT MELEE RANGE does not imply that I want him to be broken. It's a NATURAL expectation and almost always true. Do you expect to win as Varus Melee range vs Jax, Renekton, Akali, Diana, Lee Sin etc.?

i certainly expect it from Karthus provided he lands his skillshots, lol.

Yeah, but do all of them have a 6 second flash? Yeah, didn't think so.

MLDzXnRRR1 votes

Kassa is pretty good on the Dominion/ Ascension, but he has pretty bad laning on SR.

TeemoXNidalee1 votes

Yeah he is trash tier and will remain so as riot even ignored him in the assassin rework.

Season 3~4 kassadin was overrated tbh, he was OP with a ~53% winrate, but not broken. He could instakill squishies from 800 range, but couldn't do anything vs bruisers/tanks besides run away (even then not from all). Riot first nerfed his base damages so he couldn't solo kill early, this balanced him. But he could still 1shot adcs late game and as we can't have anything that hard counter adcs, his ult was trashed without reverting the nerfs to his base damage.

ZephyrDrake1 votes

just because you are able to jump in doesn't mean jack when you don't have the items to deal the damage. After 6 he just gets a hell of a lot harder to gank and kill. After a few items then he can go in and deal stupid amounts of damage.

Your example with Karthus is terrible. Karthus is also a point blank champ. Thanks for sitting in his defile.
