It's Now Been 1 Year, 4 Months and 2 Days

The mana costs on Ashe, Leona, Soraka, Varus and Viktor were all standardized to single amount at all ranks in patch 3.13.

Finally, here we are 1.3 YEARS later and Riot FINALLY decides to ALLOW the same fair treatment for Sona in the next patch. Some may say "better late than never." Personally, I can't consider this a buff to Sona, since it's a buff that was previously granted to all champions globally, but I digress.

I'd like to set all complaints aside for a moment and just thank whoever lone competent Balance Team member decided to make this change. You are more qualified than your workmates.

A positive post on the forums, how rare.

However, it's a lot rarer to see Riot make any type of change that isn't a nerf or coupled with an overshadowing nerf.

Of course, the rarest thing of all is a change to Sona that isn't yet another nerf in her unending tragic history of relentless nerfs that began with her conception.

Considering the Balance Team's long history of discrimination against Sona, this honestly seems way too good to be true. I'm gonna hold out on my judgment until it actually happens. Then I still won't believe it until she gets countless more buffs after. Even then, I still want Fearless to be made held responsible for his offenses.

Eh, we've still got Blitzcrank Karthus Kayle Leblanc Olaf Pantheon Vi and Veigar who have wonky ultimate mana costs.
