Ok Riot (or anyone really), please explain this to my smol iron brain why this is ok.

"The goal of our bounty changes is to help teams bounce back from slight to moderate deficits via higher rewards for successful comeback plays and lower payouts for dying when you're the one keeping your team in the game."

im playing the new neeko top build, and actually farming well. now, with the farming bounty, i have a 550 gold shutdown. problem is, at 22 mins into the game, i have a whopping 0/0/1 score. an entire one kill participation.

https://imgur.com/2ZcPx6F

but get this, i die once (the photo was taken just before a short skirmish) and give my bounty and whatnot. now, im an entire 0/1/2 cause i picked up another assist....

with a bounty of another 524 gold. https://imgur.com/oiIj2Xa

this is a shutdown total of 1074, for dying twice. if this was supposed to help teams bounce back, why is the one player doing literally nothing, acquiring a bounty? im normally absolute shit at farming, but the one game i do it well, im punished for it?

It's because you're abusing Neeko top, you monster. But back to your point, yeah it makes no sense to punish people for playing safe and farming.

I agree with your first point, abusing FotM should get you extra bounties at the least.

That being said, I agree with a farm bounty in principle. Kill a guy or zone them away from the gold (and xp?) of ~2 waves. They have similar rewards, yet previously only the former changed the risk-reward decisions teams had to make, why?

Well, it's farm, mostly. Nothing's loading right for me (issues with the API, according to op.gg), but it's primarily the farm everyone has. In your second screenshot, you have 30 more CS than Trynd, who's 20 CS ahead of the rest of his team. That's a lot of gold. 30 CS is a kill's worth of gold against caster minions alone, and you didn't just have casters.

Your bounty might be a bit high, but it definitely should be there, since you're having a significant gold advantage.

i can understand why bounties are there, dont get me wrong, im just wondering why im worth so much. cause half an item for killing a guy doing nothing just reinforces how one guy has the possibility to lose everyone the game (if i died twice someone gets an item on someone)

edit:

heres the game though https://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2996058308/233787954?tab=stats

It's cause you're a good 600-1000 gold above everyone else on the enemy team, and then your team is also ahead of the enemy team in terms of gold in general. Also, bounties include the regular kill gold so you should remove 300 gold from it for your actual bounty.

Riot has been on the low. They've been taking their time. Players are feeling out of their mind. They feel like this game isn't theirs.

#Can you relate?

I mean, bounties include the normal gold they'd normally get from the kill, so that's 300. That means you have a 250 gold bounty. Meanwhile, you're sitting at a minimum of 32 CS above Tryn and up to 50 CS on Ahri (Obviously Blitz doesn't count.) Considering how each CS averages about 20 gold, from Tryn's point of view, you're 600 gold above him, and 1000 gold up on Ahri.

Now, you're already on the winning team, which decides who get's big bounties in the first place. Your KDA, is not the biggest quality of being ahead. CS is just as much an advantage due to Gold and EXP. You're already drastically stomping them as a team, even with zero kills, you're still far ahead.

Well, your team was up 2k+ Gold from what I can tell in that picture. Winning teams bounties scale harder. Doesn’t matter if all you did was farm, it warranted a bounty to potentially let the enemy have some faint glimmer of hope of returning.

At least, pretty sure that’s why. Picture is super blurry on my computer. Could be seeing it wrong.

I dont disagree with a bounty on people that are just farming well. Farm is so so important (duh) and if you starve out your opponent of CS while also gaining a huge lead yourself, you have just caused a massive lead for your team and turned the game basically into a 4v5 if done right. So, the bounty is pretty justified.

That being said, I dont agree with having a recurring bounty on someone that is just farming. If you die once with the bounty it should just drop to 0.

im pretty sure they did it so pro play ends quicker with faster games. 120 farm at 12 minutes is a high bounty, that when taken, can snowball pretty hard and finish the lcs games faster. They were gonna make pro play even faster with the new champ select changes that they thankfully didnt go through with.

they were suggesting making champ select last 20 seconds less per champion pick if you forgot about those lol

I was gonna agree until I saw that you were about 30 CS at least above everyone else on the enemy team.

Can we get someone to do the literal math for how much gold he's made vs his top lane opponent? In theory if your opponent was farming as well he should have the same bounty and if he isn't you're making more gold than him bounty or not. Base gold for kills is 300. You gave them 400 extra gold over those two kills. That's like 3ish waves of cs. If he was 3ish waves behind or he didn't get the kills you're still ahead or now on par. The bounty cs system is used so lane bullies are easier to come back from. Not to mention power farming can be annoying as hell to play against. It's a fine system and I think it's working fine mathmatically. It probably just doesn't feel like it's working well because we can't see all the exact numbers going into play. Could use some minor adjustments though, it is a new system after all. Not like it's perfectly balanced. If you want to talk about snowballing... riot did just add in the spear of shojin... one of the best damage items ever made for people like Jax... someone who already is snowbally. I just don't know why it builds out of a BF sword.

I had a 550 gold shutdown for being 20 cs ahead, scoreline 0/0/0

Chizzah1 votes

This might be an unpopular opinion. But when I read "comeback" I think the losing team is making a comeback against the winning team. I might be an illogical idiot but shouldn't that mean the "winning team" should not be able to collect bounties?

How do you determine the winning team? Gold difference? Objectives taken? KDA? Combination of all of them maybe.

Shahamut1 votes

Im fine with gold bounties since zoning and denying cs is a way to accumulate an advantage. I just wish it would scale back if you were on the losing team...

I was 4/0/6, was only about 20 cs ahead of my lane opponent since I had to give a lot early game. I had a 1k bounty. Seems fine right?

But what if I told you my team was down 3 towers, that the enemy mid laner was 5/2/8 and the enemy adc was 11/1/10? and the jungler had an outrageous score line as well?

Im basically free gold the minute they decide to turn their attention to top lane... which they did.

Thats the only time the bounty system really just feels bad to me.

hrooza dota 1 votes

getting ahead in CS is like getting kills on the lane opponent and no its not always you being safe or something its sometimes just you bulling the guy out of lane which is no different then you diving him and getting kills.
