One way you could keep games 'fresh' and 'exciting' is with different types of Jungle creeps.

Illâoi Evê Siôn··59 votes·2,055 views

The difference would only be visual and players would have the option to turn it on/off in the client.

Think of it like skins for Jungle creeps (excluding the buffs and epic monsters). Some could be regular, some rarer, some seasonal. Some could have special requirements, like there's >3 Freljordian Champs on the team so you get a Snowman, or >3 Shuriman Champs so you get a cactus-hound-monster, or >3 Water-y champions so you get a floating Pufferfish.

I remember there were a bunch of unused monster concepts when you did the Summoner's Rift Update. You could reuse those or bring back Lizards and Wraiths. The Slimes could be a nice replacement for the new Krugs. You could have a baby Vilemaw to replace Gromp and the removed buff helpers (the masked bushes and floating stones) for Wolves and Raptors.

Seeing different visual aspects every game could keep things from feeling static, and it would be healthier for balance than revamping the Jungle every season.

Great idea +1

I was thinking you meant RNG different types of Monsters

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

Yeah, I do. Like every camp has a few different appearances and you get a random assortment of them each game.

As in functionally different like a few new types of camps like A turtle instead of gromp. Snakes instead of raptors

Oh, mm, I'm not sure that would be worth the added (I'm missing the lingo here) information the player has to remember? Because if the RNG monsters' functionality differs from the original they have to be mandatory for all players. That means everyone has to know which monsters all exist, be able to recognize them at the start of the game and know the implications (the pros and cons) of their presence to adjust their playstyle. It also adds a mandatory strain on your game, probably, cause different files have to be loaded (not so sure on this one).

That being said, the actual gameplay adjustments probably wouldn't be all that major compared to the information you have to store. Monsters' attack patterns and stats are rather simple and there are only so many variations you can create. In the end, you might just end up with pseudo-originals that are in other places on the map. Overall, it would rob Junglers of their stability (what if one ends up with 4 variations that he's worse against?) and be, imo, much more trouble than it's worth.

Still, I would have fun exploring the idea from a game design standpoint, trying to make it work.

I am 100% on board for RNG monsters in the jungle per game, as long as they're equally mirrored on both sides.

that would be great... for a while and then people would just not care at all since well "this camp is X, that camp is Y, that other camp is Z, that is red buff and that is blue buff... they all behave exactly the same so no actual difference"

Would be a nice thing to have but it won't keep anything fresh or exciting for long because well, the same champions who are good jungler would still be good junglers and those who are bad would still be bad. The top jungler will still be the top ones while the bottom ones are still there. No new Junglers coming in without dumb changes to their kits. Seeing new graphics only goes so far if nothing actually changes with them

On the flip side, this does open up better synergy with SR maps - the winter map could have snow themed monsters, etc. You could skin the monsters just like minions for events or champion releases (next champ is a void champ, what if the monsters were all void monsters?) Yes, they would still be the same in terms of mechanics, but they would have to stay the same mechanically or the whole jungle might get messed up.

like i said, it would be something nice to have but as far as keeping the game "fresh and exciting" it really won't, at least for the long run since eventually people just won't care after a while. Would be nice to see stuff like this for event maps like the snow map or doombots or any of those other SR maps to have jungle camps and even minions changed to look like something else even if they behave exactly the same

I wouldn't mind seeing the Wight again. This is cool.

Still, art assets should be going to giving Nunu Pantheon Fiddlesticks Udyr visual updates

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

I think they have lots of art teams that do things other than updating champions, like creating the rotating game modes. They could waylay one of those for the job, right?

i 100% agree , planning on how to do your clear and which camp will benefit you the most based on what kind of camp you got in that specific game will open diversity and excitement for sure , heres my upvote good sir

Illâoi Evê Siôn3 votes

No, you misunderstand. I'm advocating the visual difference only version. They only look different. They behave the same.

But your version would be possible, too, if much more work.

The only issue I have with this is there will be certain camps that some junglers will have a harder time with, and you won't know which camps you're getting before going into game. If you pick Fiddle and all the camps are camps he struggles with, you've gimped your game and that's going to feel bad.

If the changes are visual only, then it won't affect junglers clears and stuff.

Granted, you could say that the changes will be similar to changes between dragons (same overall dps, but one slows, one attacks faster/slower, etc) which might be enough to diversify without damaging jungling, but could still skew things too much.

Although this sounds amazing! It will require PC's to use more memory when playing league, which in turn could reduce performance. Riot tries to never go over a certain amount so lower end PC's don't get cucked and aren't able to play league.

Its the same reason dragon's ability attacks are so basic and less exciting.

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

Yeah, that's one of the main reasons why we would have to be able to turn it off in the client (or it could be off on default).

im sorry but with how cheap good computers are there is no reason for people to still have crap computers they can go and get a job stop catering to the bottom 1% of all people

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

Pretty sure they didn't give Swain a bird form because computers, so they definitely aren't catering to the bottom 1%. It's just that these things can have more of an impact than we think.

Its def not catering to the bottom 1%, not everyone is a "gamer" and wants to spend money on a high end PC. Also there are people that travel with laptops for work and what not, which is also a large downgrade from an actually desktop.

Good idea, but at the current moment, i think most of people would agree more on getting some sort of balance in the game rather than some visual updates. But can't lie, that's a good concept

The other way to keep things fresh would be to 0.25 seconds it.

Karn Bishop1 votes

Weird i was thinking that jungle could be fresh and exciting with higher camp respawn times, smiting camps for unique bonuses such as a cool ghost doggy, ect ect.

Saibbo1 votes

Man it was that long since they changed the jungle monster? I miss the ghosts
