you poke him, he heals, you all in him he wins the trade, basicaly the harder you hit him the harder he hits back and as the icing on the cake he outscales other toplaners and buffs his teammates like srsly everytime i see this guy he is doing miracles like geting entire combo to the face from weigar gragas and entire salvo of autos from jinx (her skills included) he fights for a while and decides to go away like nothing happened

next time i go solo q ill dodge if he wont be banned (still i dont like playing the mad tree)

As someone who regularly jungled maokai I can say that the nerfs definitely hurt. His dash range makes him an easy target since he has to get close to engage, and his clear is definitely hampered by his heavy mana-reliance in the early game.

Definitely better junglers and tanks in the meta, currently.

jungled maokai but we speak about maokai top he can stand there and you cant move him, he scales good with farm so he does not have to be agressive and if you will get agressive he will kill you because he is sure that you wont run away and he wont just waste mana

There's always a few dominant picks for a given lane. For years it was Renekton. I'm not sure I'd say they're more than ~5% stronger than the next best thing though.

He's played as a top lane now, and pretty much 100% pick/ban in the current tournament scene. Sure there's better junglers (he's not exactly bad at that), it's debatable whether there's a better top. He's largely considered as the best top ATM.

Ah. Okay. I definitely see how he could be a nuisance in top lane. Kind of a similar deal to season 3 nunu, infinite sustain with very little counterplay. Still, I think it's important to keep him strong enough for the jungle. There should definitely be a discussion to make his top play more risky while keeping him meaningful in the jungle.
