The champions they update have issues with them, whether it being outdated, low counterplay, stale or simple gameplay, or just not hitting the mark they were supposed to.
If they rework Shaco, it'll be because of a sad combination of each of those, because he's old, hard to actually play against, and because his thematic could be done so much better with a proper modernization.

HaIlMonitor1 votesThey rework random guys usually. Very few like WW were outdated, the rest are just guys they didnt want to balance or enough people cried about it until they got it changed. Voli, Malph, nunu fit both of those and they just dont touch them, in fact malph hasn't had a real change to his kit since before patch 1. Also, if you haven't had your main reworked before, not one of them just gets an updated kit (except ww). They always completely change how they are played and make them different enough they don't feel the same to the mains.

Infernape2 votesThat's the point of a VGU. VGU's are basically complete overhauls of a champion. It's as if Riot had a chance to make them from scratch.
Modernisation VGUs like Warwick and Eve still keep core parts of their kits intact (like Warwick dealing mixed damage, having sustain and on hit effect applying abilities or Eve's permanent stealth).

redniwediS2 votesI've played too many games that lost their online servers to care about losing one champion in League. I'm a Garen one trick who keeps seeing people ask for him to get mana and higher cooldowns, or be turned into a real tank with gutted damage, or get a very mechanically focused kit instead of his current one. People suggest changes that would gut his gameplay and turn him into a brand new champion, but I just don't care. If it happens it happens, and it's no different than losing one of those other games I've already lost.
Only difference is the rest of League would still be here if I want to play.

I'm only just barely allowed to finally play Evelynn again thx to her rework, after I'm not sure how long ago Meddler took it upon himself to personally gut her. Now that Meddler has just gutted Zyra, I'm once again left on the fence whether or not she's still worth playing. It's worth noting that Meddler personally had a hand in all of these characters' guttings. It shouldn't be a mystery to anyone why I don't like him when the champions I like are always the ones he hates and targets for nerfs.

I was a Zilean player before his rework. I changed to Bard because Zil Q was completely crippled by bugs for a year. I was a Heim player before his rework, and still am. I was a Zyra jungle player before her rework, and I dropped it afterwards because they unintentionally gutted her clear's reliability. I was a mastery 7 Urgot before his rework. Still play him, and I'm not too bad at him, but he's not the same. I was a mastery 5 GP before his rework (back when that was the highest it could go). Can't play him well anymore, so I rarely do. I loved playing Evelynn mid before her rework (even right before it dropped), but I can't make it work anymore so I don't play her. I was a mastery 7 Taric before his rework, and still play him a lot.
All of these reworks were (eventually) good changes to the game (except Zyra, whose rework did pretty much nothing either way), and that's true regardless of whether I and their other old players stick with them.
It's happened before, and it'll definitely happen again (Teemo, Sona, and Morde for me), so learn to roll with the punches.

I say this a lot too. It does get to a point where the move on means leaving the game.
I am so happy they are reworking rengar again for example, because his current kit is a clunky mess, but honestly if they mess him and Irelia up those would be my last two nails. I enjoy champs I feel like I am the better or worst player and dueling people on irelia gives me that in top lane, but one of the beauties is she can also "deal" with tanks which others like riven cant. For one tricks stuff like reworks get sketchy because other champs will never be "Old rengar" or "Old Irelia" so if the new ones are worst, why play?
The answer is simply, they probably don't care about the older gamers anyways lol.

Sure, they're more "healthy" and competitively viable, but honestly they're not that fun to play anymore.
