What happened to Ryze?

I haven't seen one in tournaments or my games in months. He used to be very popular. Was the Q nerf really THAT big of a deal?

The moment a champion isn't incredibly broken nobody thinks they're worth playing anymore just be glad he's not in everygame

Short answer, NO. The first answer on this thread was correct. Pro players only play the broken champs and everyone is sheep and blindly follows them (Rito calls this "Meta")

Cute.

His winrate is 3rd lowest in the game and almost as low as Urgot's. The nerf gutted him.

He was gutted for having really shitty design. He deserved it, really. I hope he never comes back, save perhaps post-rework.

Doran's shield was also buffed, and I believe he had multiple abilities hit, not just his Q.

He should never have been strong anyways. He's a training wheels champ for new players, who relies entirely on point-and-click, and whose ultimate is simply 'you keep playing exactly the same but you hurt more and its a little harder for you to die'.

Worst of all was that he was a late-game scaling champion who was extremely oppressive in lane, and became untouchable mid-game after stacking enough armor & HP. So essentially no weakness+easy gameplay+boring&overpowered kit. I'm glad they hurt his early game so badly.

It's a great nerf that pushed Ryze out of top lane (thank god), even speaking as a favourite top Ryze player myself before. Not sure how he fares as mid now after the nerfs, as I haven't seen one yet.

I still play ryze he is a beast and is near and dear to my heart one of the first champs I took the time to learn even if they nerf him there is always a way to carry with a champ regardless. The cool thing about league is that each champ has the ability to be overpowerd due to the gold income and level advantages you just need to know what you can and can't do then you are ready to go.

-60 dmg on the primary spell of his (like -30% power), what you max first and is your main tool. Dunno what could have happened =D

He got a small Q nerf and Doran' shield got buffed. People think he's worthless now and are looking for the next "Broken" champ to play.

less of the nerf, more a meta shift, champions like lissandra or gnar don't care bout ryze top, Rumble will rost him post 6 as he lacks mobillity to escape the ult, mao just doesn't care with his passive sustain vs spamming mages, and Irelia will easily snowball against him with some help of her jungler, and u usually try to snowball your irelia as a jungler(otehrwise it'S a rather risky and often bad pick at top)

Basically, the meta has shifted towards really strong lane bully top laners, and that hurt Ryze more than any nerf could. The game is less focused on hyper scaling and late game and more on getting supreme early/mid game dominance, something ryze is bad at.
