why supports hate the only one that takes skill (thresh)?

thresh the only skillful support so why hate him? are supports jealous of superior play winning thresh mains the game?

would rather go back to thresh meta than ardent meta where supports point click shields with spells you can't out play lol

This question is rhetorically biased and utterly pointless.

Mens Hair Club1 votes

more supports should take skill like thresh does

Mianta3 votes

Thresh has a high skillcap. That doesnt make him a difficult champ to learn, just that he takes longer to master. Same goes for Bard.

Mens Hair Club1 votes

bard ain't hard tho

hardest thing about him is having good macro but that's not really a "bard" thing

Fairyfleur2 votes

Thresh isn't that hard either, especially when he's a strong pick. Both Bard and Thresh have a high skillcap compared to other supports, meaning there's a lot you can learn with them.

Anytime someone starts with " I play a highly skilled champ, therefore I am superior cuz MUH OUTPLAY POTENTIAL" they lose any chance to be taken seriously. If you have self steem problems, you aren't gonna fix them by playing those champs. Oh, and ask yourself a question: If they are so hard to play, why are they permapicked?

Mens Hair Club1 votes

I don't play thresh, pls don't project on me

high pick rate because they're fun and reward good players even if the champ is weak, just like lucian when he had 46% win rate still having 15% pick

nobody wants to play janna lulu etc unless they're overpowered

Zezockary4 votes

I enjoy playing Lulu, she is a fun character with fun mechanics.

Especially doing things like casting E on a healthy enemy champion, waiting for them to go near a low health champion, and killing them with a Q. That feels awesome every time. Also, poking enemies under their turret by E'ing a minion and Q'ing them. Not to mention turning enemies into squirrels and throwing your teammate a Mario mushroom. I probably wouldn't secondary support if it weren't for Lulu.

Mens Hair Club1 votes

I would like lulu more if she kept that decision making outside of lane

as of right now tho once you get your items/team fight happens you become a shield/peel bot

i like her a lot but she's always been disappointing to me for that reason

Zezockary2 votes

I don't feel like I have that issue. Maybe you just aren't thinking far enough outside the box?

Mens Hair Club1 votes

maybe

This.

If you think he is the only support that takes skill, you haven't played support much and don't know the position that well.

Jorencice5 votes

How do you outplay thresh?

He simply gets mobi boots walks up to the person and presss E. Boom dead enemy.

Seems pretty simple to me.

Mens Hair Club1 votes

can dodge q, can stop lantern from saving people, can break box wall's for your team to escape safely

can't say the same for any enchanter except maybe taric

Phelas8 votes

"Don't get hit by X lol" is surley a great way of saying "outplay".

Thresh is loaded af, sure he is somewhat hard to play, but don't make it sound like he is the hardest champion in the game. He's a better Blitzcrank with more dimensions to play with, but thats about it.

That being said, supports are in a weird state right now.

Mens Hair Club2 votes

it has a windup and everything, dodging is one the simplest counterplay in the game

Phelas4 votes

Doding is no counterplay, and saying it has a windup and everything is a crap argument, since Thresh is one of the few champions who actually can fake directions. And even you cannot deny that Threshs kit is stacked, he got everything one can wish for, hell, he even has Ardent synergy, a thing you hate.

Mens Hair Club1 votes

dodging is counterplay tho

and thresh using his lantern just for ardent means he won't use it to save ally. am fine with that trade off

Weiss Guertena5 votes

Do people who say "just dodge" play against bots mostly? Enemies you are facing are humans, and likely on your skill level. They won't just mindlessly throw abilities in a straight line like you, they'll know how to lead you, predict your movements and combo with teammates and other abilities of their own.

Seriously, it's the same as "just CC them to death" counterplay argument. Technically it is correct, but in reality it just isn't.

Mens Hair Club1 votes

"thresh can outplay me so he doesn't have counterplay" ?

if he's leading you with Q then you can lead him to throw it and then turn around to juke. mind games go both ways

Weiss Guertena2 votes

I'm not saying he doesn't have counterplay at all. Just "dodge every single of his Qs" isn't really a valid example - especially if he uses the other tools at his disposal to make sure it lands.

La Belle Sauvage1 votes

I have a decent time vs. Thresh w/Sona. I think the ability to auto and hit Q's from behind the minion wave makes the matchups easier. I also find Leo into Thresh and Blitz a good matchup in my favor.

Weiss Guertena4 votes

1.) Because he's overloaded as all hell with tools for every situation and 2.) They don't. Blitz is pretty much constantly amongst mots hated champions due to "be terrible and still win game because of one lucky Q" kit. Mage supports have gotten lots of hate when they were meta. Hard engage supports too. People just complain about what is strongest at the moment really - and, coincidentally enough, Thresh is strong in every support meta due to his overloaded kit.

Friendly Ram3 votes

Bard, jarman, and braum all need skill too. Don't act like thresh is the only high skill support.

Mens Hair Club1 votes

who is jarman?

and I have close to 300k on bard, he is not very hard lole. even less difficult since the op buff he got start of s7

Magical Zoe5 votes

Bard is hard to play correctly and consistently. One fuck up with your portal or ultimate can throw the game in a heart beat. He may not be as hard to play in this season, but he definitely was one of the hardest champions to master.

Mianta1 votes

bard is a complex champ that requires quick thinking and planning ahead. Using your w to set up paths for your teammates (taking advantage of the speed boosts and buffed kite potential). Using your e to bait enemies into your team (paired with your roaming). Using your ult to put towers into stasis so your team can tower-dive, or freezing grouped enemies to turn a 5v5 into a 2v5. Your ult has the potential to screw your own team over if you cant use it, or it can save a few of your teammates who got caught out. Pairing your q with your ult takes skill, just like hitting your q at max range (abusing the 2nd hit range). landing it is skill expression.

experience =/= skill. 300k doesnt mean anything. have you seen the video on youtube of the bard main who has almost 1 mil yet plays horrendously?

La Belle Sauvage2 votes

I think it's folly to say any champs require no skill. All champions require some sort of forethought. To be sure some are harder than others hence the "no skill" argument but I largely ignore the play no skill champ and you'll win b.s.

Friendly Ram1 votes

Yeah ik. I'm just using the ops words.

La Belle Sauvage2 votes

I think I replied to the wrong poster. I agree with your statement about Thresh isn't the only skilled support.

KONO RUBICK DA3 votes

downvoted because thresh isn't the only sup that takes skill

Mens Hair Club1 votes

he takes the most

La Belle Sauvage2 votes

I don't hate any champs. I'm not fond of Shaco mostly because I struggle when he's the enemy jungle.

However, I think people like to ban Support champs like Thresh and Blitz so they don't have to play around the hooks.

Krigjer2 votes

However, I think people like to ban Support champs like Thresh and Blitz so they don't have to play around the hooks.

As a support main, you can dodge and outplay a Blitz/Thresh all damn laning phase, but ONE. HOOK. in the mid-late game and that could be the gamechanger.

There's too much to lose even if you do everything right to shut them down early.

La Belle Sauvage1 votes

True, I tend not to the ban them in favor of other crap I don't like to face.

Mysticman891 votes

I'm pretty sure the only people who play thresh are supports.

Unless your point is actually that people shouldn't do lane thresh, in which case, yeah that's silly.

Mens Hair Club1 votes

nah I know a lot of people who only support because of thresh

Mysticman891 votes

They're still supports though.

Janakin1 votes

If you are trying to say that there should be more champions with design similar to Thresh's, then I agree. Past champions are poorly designed, despite having a lot of fine ones unused.
