How can I improve my skill shots? [Support Player here]

Skill shots are something very important during any circumstance that would benefit the team. But how exactly can you improve your skill shots?

Blitzcrank has a very fast Q, It feels so easy to land from my experience Thresh has a delay in his hook, so sometimes it's hard to land at the perfect moment because enemies have that second to react. Leona has a very stiff E from my experience due to it's width and length. It's potentially obvious when Leo want's to engage. Morgana feels very hard to land because of how slow her Q is.

How can I improve my skill shots? It gets aggravated when my team mates call me out when I miss the skill shots :/

The best advice I can give is to auto the scuttle, then just repeatedly try to land your skillshots while standing at near-max range away from it (practice tool helping so much better compared to the old-school method of doing it). Do this for about 10-15mins, and you'll naturally see yourself getting a better idea of how to land them on moving targets.

Oh wow! that's a remarkable idea, thank you for sharing (:

That's a horrible idea lol. Master thresh 1 trick here, well currently d3 (moooose2) after account banned lul, anyways on thresh or any champ with a windup of any kind throw your hook to the side a bit because it has an obvious animation most people will try and dodge. Also you don't always have to throw your hook first, a lot of hte time it is better to run up and flay if you are in range then throw hook since they will be slowed. Same thing on blitz, if they are walking back and forth trying to dodge your hook before you actually throw it, just run at them fist them and then hook and theyre dead. Try to push people against walls so that it is impossible to dodge without flash or an escape. Add me on moooose2 or watch some of my replays on op.gg if you wanna see what i do lol. I'm fairly experience at thresh and usually sit around like 65% winrate on him. Sadly mooose2 is a bit lower but still fairly good for support.

Always throw slightly off center in the direction you think they are going to dodge once they see the wind up animation of your ability.

Note: Leona's Zenith blade buffers CC, so if you get knocked up or CC'd, you can still zenith blade through to the person behind them granted your timing is correct. Most people feel safe behind their frontline especially if CC is being applied.

OH! you mean instead of aiming straight ahead where they stand, to aim slightly left or right as a prediction of them dodging?

They're all positioning. You want to fire a skillshot your opponent will be punished for dodging if possible. Which generally occurs when they have to choose between fight or flight in a combat situation. When going for cs is most common in lane. Outside of lane, be patient with your skillshots, get close if possible, around 300 units range is best, melee is actually bad because they may move around you. They're easier to hit once your opponent has decided if they are going to fight or run.

As they go for the CS it can be pretty hard, knowing that they will always be behind the creeps :x

At some point it becomes less about aiming the actual skillshot. Most of the time, the enemy will be walking back and forth watching you to dodge skillshots. Look at your own minions. Is that minion low? That ADC is going to walk into range and stand still to auto that minion. This is your chance to land your skillshot. Is the enemy walking into range to shoot something at you? They are walking straight, now is your chance to land the skillshot.

If you just throw out skillshots blindly your success rate will be low. Basically, if your enemy is thinking about dodging you, they will dodge it. If theyre thinking about something else (cs, attacking you) you can hit them easily.

Thanks for the visual advice, I can relate to being in those circumstances in my past games!

In laning phase, I try to hit the enemy adc when they last-hit minions since they'll probably be distracted. Or, at the very moment a path opens up when a minion dies.
