Why aren't Alistar, Vayne, Viktor, Riven etc good in low elo?
This appears to be the general consensus. Why?
This appears to be the general consensus. Why?
Alistar tends to require your team follow up on your initiations. Since coordination is often poor at lower ELOs, that isn't always reliable.
Vayne is decent (since many won't really know how to bully you), but most don't know how to dodge skillshots or play the lane at that level either. Also, she takes a long time to really scale and many games are decided by whichever player(s) feed the most early-game.
Viktor is probably fine. A good generalist if you know how to play him.
Riven is difficult to play (and I'm probably going to be downvoted for that), so few low ELO players can actually take advantage of her kit properly. Considering she has a high skill cap and is balanced around that, she isn't a great pick unless you can play her competently.
Though one could argue that Riven's effectiveness increases based on the skill of her lane opponent despite her players' skill.
Riven annoys me because it doesn't feel like she needs to do well to snowball.
Alistar: Low elo players can't even use the WQ combo on him even if you can just buffer it now. Most of the time they just use their w in team fight/ skirmishes every time it's off cooldown and usualy save more enemies than they help kill them.
Vayne: As long as they don't feed Vayne isn't THAT hard to play so some of them can still do something, but most of the time they just over estimate their power and engage in fights they could've easily avoided
Viktor: Laser is a unique skillshot to this champion and is harder to maser than other skillshots, and people will usualy upgrade the laser first regardless of who they are facing and even if they can't hit it.
Riven: Just like Vayne, tend to overestimate themselves and Riven is even harder to play than Vayne.
From a guy that has been in silver for 2 whole years
Because they are too mechanical for those players to learn.
Viktor not so much, but he still has a decent level of skill needed.
I think Viktor actually has a high mechanical factor (no pun intended). While not as intense as Riven, you still have to know how to position your death ray and anticipate player movement for gravity field and chaos storm. What makes Viktor really tricky is his passive giving you augmentations and an Item permanently added to your inventory, making itemization difficult and something you have to stress on.
itemization is actually so much easier, because of the hexcore.
And most of the time, even in pro play, the only time someone would get stuck in the gravity field if when they are perma slowed, or CC. It is easy to dodge, if you know he is going to use it.
Death Ray is the thing that makes him difficult because of how clunky the casting is.
For itemization, you lose one item slot to the hexcore, meaning you have one less passive or active to work with. You yourself just stated that his gravity field and death ray is hard to use. This implies mechanical difficulty for both. In the end, Viktor is still a more mechanically difficult champion than what you let on to be.
Why are they not good in low Elo? I've heard the opposite actually.
Alistar vayne and viktor are hard to play.
The better low elo counterparts may be
Morgana, Tristana, and Annie.
I honestly feel that your skill with Vayne only really matters based on the skill of you opponents.
Alistar? lol, I go ap alistar toplane and destroy, I don't play viktor or riven though, never really fought those two in norms or ranked
Just because you do something doesn't mean it's consistent, no offense. AP alistar has no mobility, easily ganked pre-6, and lacks a tanky role. AP bruiser is alright but since you say destroy without saying bruiser or tank and only ap, I assume you mean full AP alistar. Plus, there are generally just better picks than alistar to go top.
true, i don't go full ap, but im close to it, I rush protobelt for the dash and damage
Viktor's bad in low elo? I must be playing him wrong then...
Because everyone is bad in low elo. Isn't just these champions.
Low elo Alistar players will often screw up the WQ combo, launching enemies to safety and/or themselves into danger.
Positioning is 100% Vayne's thing, and low elo players tend to be terrible at positioning. Can still be played in lanes with super safe supports, since she scales really hard when fed.
Viktor has a lot of mechanical nuances and decision making.
Riven can be played in low elo, she just does a lot less damage than people that know how to use her combos and cancelling.
All except Alistar do fine in low elo. Alistar just struggles because tower diving isn't as big with randoms, and his combo is kind of like, use your abilities for peel, or engage and have your ADC try to fight 1v2 after you blow your combo.
Most vayne players dont know her limits and think they will instacarry...proceeding to feed a lot early game, rage and then stay farming in lane while the other fed carry proceeds to finish vayne´s teammates and the game. She doesnt have cheap mechanics like Jinx or Cait, so she requires fine engage judgement and when to use her windows of power like her ult, thent o reach her hyper carry status. But her key is to know the road of how to get there in the early game without being shid.
TLDR: Low elo players dont know how to carry with her and when to fight and when to not.
Yeaah umm Alistar is such an easy champion I actually don't understand why anyone would say that a bronze picking alistar is a bad idea? :l
Vayne from my experience is actually a good pick since you scale pretty well in the mid game so long as you have any ADC mechanics. If you don't, you shouldn't picking ADC in the first place.
Tristana and ezreal are forgiving when vayne isn't it appears. As well, consistent alistar combos and initiations seem to be rare in lower elos.
I think they are good in low elo.. you won't have the skills to use them to the best, but the enemy won't punish you for not doing so..
vayne isn't, viktor kindof isn't
alistar and riven are op as shit in low elo
I got dumpstered in lane but ganks as Viktor earlier and I still was good. W+R is great an teamfights if your team has good setup and you have Rylai's.
It depends?
I'm a Viktor main and got out of bronze and almost silver with him, then got tired after hearing that Victorious was going to for Maokai and not Viktor this year.
It just depends how much of that champion you know, of course you aren't playing at full capacity if you pick it for the first time.
I had good Ali's before. I would love to have an Alistar again set up kills for me while building tank. Huh?
for alistar. its decision making. let me tell u what happens. alistar makes a good engage. his team has no idea what the fuck to do they back off and be like "alistar wtf is that 1v5 dive reported". even if he pings in which he should. often times they are too scared to capitalize on any play.
