Can you carry as Support?

Can you carry? I mean, of course you can help your team by playing Blitzcrank , Nautilus , or Leona by spoon feeding your Draven but even then you can't guarantee he will use the gold correctly or he will play correctly to make your efforts successful. I have seen high elo supports smurfing and carrying bronze games with Soraka , but I'm talking about high silver and up elo. You clearly deal less damage than every other role and only have CC and shielding or healing to carry with a few damaging spells for each support.

I've just never almost never seen a support actually carry the game himself of course, you don't look at the support when the ADcarry gets a pentakill or ace.

Take Thresh for example. You are a mid-platinum smurf support main of Thresh in lane and you have to gamble whether or not the ADcarry will farm and run when you engage or if he will engage with you. Also if he gets caught out by the enemy support like a Blitzcrank , there isn't much you can do about it unless you are one of his few counters.

How might one carry a game as a support?

In high tiers of play supports can easily carry through how they help their team. In low levels of play the lack of coordination and teamwork in your carries makes it almost impossible on certain supports, but still doable.

Aphromoo is the NA support god. He is the reason why I can even play support good. Not great like diamond but pretty good at my rank. Aphromoo and Mata my two fav inspirations.

Easily. I believe it's just as easy to carry from support as any other role it's just accomplished in a different way. Plus remember most supports you run into are second rolling so if you are a true main makes it even easier.

What people dont realize is that supports have a huge impact in the lane. A good support can make life hell for the enemy ad by setting up kills

Yes, you can carry. Blitz is a stupid champ that falls off and is only useful early game. Play champs like Tahm Kench, Taric, Braum, Bard, or Thresh. No matter how bad your adc is, you can set em up and save em

as a terrible ADC player, I can confirm this. God help my team when I decide to play ADC to change things up, good thing I tend to have good luck with supports.

If you play Thresh and want to carry a losing team, go full AD, you won't regret it.

Kinda. Ive carried before as Bard because of my godlike ults i was landing that game. Its stupidly hard to do most times though.

not anymore, no. previous season you could do a lot by controlling vision better than your opponent - but this season all you can do is hope your carry is worthy of your support.

well what do you consider carry?

When I play support I try to play champs I know well be a good suit for the team as well as good for my play style. The best way I carry as support is make sure to try and bully the enemy into backing off a lot of cs and under tower. This is more risky since now you will be subject to ganks so warding is very important. After that just simple deep wards in enemy jungle to allow counter ganks and general information. Deep warding for the most part keeps the enemy jungler starved since it makes it harder for them to gank mid and bot. If you play low tier on a smurf or in general you might get a passive style or beginner level ADC so just be patient and supportive. Coaching them with tips definitely helps but not always. Blitz is blitz but you can starve his ADC under tower behind minons safely for the most part. Good luck though brosky support life is hard and under appreciated.

Most people thinking Carrying = High Damage, but carrying is really about dominance and situational impact, and tbh you don't need a lot of damage for that. I've carried plenty of games by simply denying their fed mid or ADC from having an impact late game or making good picks and/or saves with well timed abilities. Supports actually have the most impactful abilities in the game and usually with very short cooldowns to match. Your ability to kill isn't great, but your ability to control the flow and trades in matches is unmatched.

I have a few games with Soraka but not a lot since I am in low elo I get mentally disabled ADC's so it's very rare.

I just lost a match 'cause our bot lane fed the enemy Jinx that was fairly bad at the champion but got carried by her karma support. The reason is yes, if you have a team that can pick at least at 20% of the good play you make as a support (grabs, hard engages with cc or disengages) you can say you carried.

You can carry in bronze as a support. But as I've learned recently in silver that doesn't work so much anymore.

Just try to keep the ADC alive and don't die.

I've found it increasingly harder to do much of anything as support as most games are ending within 25 minutes nowadays. Can't even build tanky enough to survive anymore as Leona.

Yes.

And you don't have to be some fancy damage dealer or hook hero to do so. For instance, Sona is still a rather powerful rallying queen, and Lulu can turn getting caught situations into a really nasty comeback through the use of polymorph and ult.

Of course, you can't "solo carry" as support and neither can you as any other role nowadays, but carrying doesn't have to involve damage, frontline work, or even very fancy spells.

First of all, nobody can win 100% of games. Even people who are smurfing several whole leagues below their true elo lose sometimes.

In order to carry you just have to be the reason your team wins more than half of games. But in at least half of games your teammates are equally or more skilled than your opponents anyway.

So, if you set up great plays and the damage dealers don't follow through and execute them, you won't win THAT game. But you'll win the games where you make the same setup while having better teammates.

Sometimes. Support is my secondary, but I am Gold I and I have a really hard time carrying low Elo adcs. Earlier today I played with a Bronze I ADC against two gold 5 players I think. The player didn't understand wave management at all or level spikes. The jinx shoved the wave by autoing after getting ganked by a pre-six yi.

I told her not to auto the wave as it comes to us and to last hit only since we are behind. Sure enough does the exact same thing and were were killed again. She had half the cs of the Jhin in early laning. We get some help from our jungler and she doesn't auto attack in a 3v2 and just farmed minions while we fought.

I abandoned her. She wasn't listening and getting killed from over extending. I died so she could place a ward in the river even though I warded the entire zone around that ward.

I am not the best support, but at least a silver player can farm and understands early laning to a degree even if mechanically they are not that good.

I have also had game where I did carry my adc setting up kills and we lost due to bad decisions. I due feel very powerless as a support especially if no one on the team listens. When I play other lanes and I ping to do stuff, if I have kills or have been doing well people follow. When I play support, if I ping I get largely ignored unless the players are around my elo (high gold low plat) because they understand the call.
