For me it's either Darius or Mundo, one just outdamages most champs and the other is just tanky as hell.

They need to extend the cooldown on the cleaver since it refunds 50% of the cd when it lands

That, and half the hp cost is refunded if it's landed, so it doesn't hurt Mundo as much to spam if he lands them.

To play as? Illaoi because it feels like I need my enemies to be braindead for her kit to work.

To play against? Mordekaiser because whenever I think he's low and fight him, he wins because of his shield.

Darius . All other Juggernauts are not annoying at all. They need to either scale, land complex combo to be any threat, or they jungle, so I don't need to spend too much time with them.

I guess I kind of hate how Nasus turns every lane into freezing contest, but I would describe him more as "boring" than "annoying".

I guess Mordekaiser is also annoying with similar "don't stand near me" playstyle, but he is barely played, so let him be.

I agree Darius is awful to lane against, but he's not the worst thing to fight in a teamfight. You can kite him and prevent him from getting his passive. Any champ with a knockback do wonders here, and other roots are fine.

"You can kite him in TF" applies to any juggernaut though*, and OP asked specifically about juggs. In this context, being kite-able doesn't redeem any cancer points.

It's impossible to meaningfully punish Garen. He can all in, get away, and return in full health regardless of the results of the all in. No other juggernaut can do that.

And then there's illaoi, and, to some extent, darius. Both of which go into combat can can heal more than 100% of their health by dealing damage.

They die if they all in poorly though-- no escape. Garen just runs away.

Darius ik how to play against him, but I really would rather not as it involves giving up a ton of CS and hiding under tower and I would much rather be able to trade in lane. I don't feel like I can interact with Darius without being half healthed.

There's plenty of other champs that have an easy time against him. Fiora, Darius, Irelia to name a few. A lot of ranged champs will do decent-so long as you have CC or an escape, some even have both.

I've always viewed Garen as a sort of idiot test-in most cases, champions have a way to deal with him. It's less about how good the Garen is, and more about how his opponent responds, which is why he tends to do poorly at higher elo-you can't rely on your own skill with him.

Which as a Garen player, I'm equally annoyed by the Villain system. No control over who I can use it against, and half the time it's either someone I can't reach, or they've become so tanky I barely scratch even with it. They need to do something with it.

Garen is one of my most played champions. I've had this match up enough to know, yes, she does. Her true damage keeps up with his spin early, then get a Sheen and burst then run. Or wait for him to try to jump you, stun when he E's, walk away, then true damage him to death.

If Garen ever allows Irelia to outscale him, he's not being dominant enough. Her powerspike (~lvl 9) isn't enough to make up for losing CS and early trades and he ends up being more useful throughout the entire game.

More useful in what way?

-Irelia has strong gap closing capability. Garen doesn't. -Irelia has CC, allowing her to actually damage the target she reached. Garen doesn't. -Irelia has some pretty incredible burst. Garen doesn't. -They've both got sustained damage-at least for the duration of Garen's E, which I consider sustained since it's not a point and click style. This is the one area where Garen actually wins out, and if he does manage to get a full combo off, yeah, your ADC is probably dead. The issue is actually pulling this off. The higher you climb, the smarter your opponents become, the less likely they are to actually facetank your spin, the lessuseful you are. Garen works well in bronze and somewhat works in silver. He starts really slipping vs most golds. I wouldn't even want to think about using him in diamond+. Yeah, there are couple of successful Garens out there at higher elo, but it's few and far between.

Like, this isn't me hating on Garen. This is a Garen play who's really frustrated with his kit. No matter how much experience I get with him, I'll feel 5x more useful if I swap out to a more standard top lane. He simply doesn't have outplay potential, which is something you need to succeed more as you climb more.

Irelia doesn't necessarily 1 vs 1 him later in the game...but we were talking early game anyways. On the contrary, with some crit (usually an IE built) he's actually got some very scary damage-but good luck actually using that damage against say, a Caitlin, Leblanc, etc.

Hmm, maybe I got some of my replies confused. In any case, personal experience has shown Irelia to be tough. Maybe I've just gone against better Irelias or something. Doesn't matter to much either way to me.

Darius, i fucking hate darius. The reason i hate him is his free passive damage, it does a lot, it's free because it's extra damage from an auto attack, he doesn't HAVE to stack it with any of his abilities, he can but he definitely doesn't have to. And finally, no juggernaut should have a true damage targeted execute, that's insane.

Mordekaiser definitely mord. he might be shit in most peoples hands but for the people who do play him he is fucking infuriating. "oh he has 100 health? PSYCHE %%%%% NOW HE HAS 500 AGAIN and a fat as fuck shield" damage directly translates to survivability, and all the bugs with him makes it so that you never know whats about to happen.
