PSA: Running a full AP mage bottom doesn't count as supporting

Was autofilled supp. Since I can only play one support and he doesn't synergize well with the ADC, I asked if I could go mid. Mid says yes but goes and buys a . Later, he buys , , and has the and for . I said if he didn't turn the blasting wand into a I'd report him. A little harsh but you literally cannot just run an AP mid botlane and call it support. Supports should be tanking, CCing, or healing/shielding. This guy was doing none of these 3 things.

Dealing damage is a viable way to support. If the damage contribution is large enough, which brand has plenty of, and the support has enough gold then I say go for it. Of course the support needs to eventually build a sightstone unless the support is completely running the enemy over.

If youre winning, it doesnt matter.

If youre losing because people are getting picked and you lose objectives from lack of vision, then yeah. Brand is heavily (but not entirely) to blame. But until then, sounds like you were doing just fine.
