you will nerf anyway every champion who will build it. 0 reasons to do it, you struggle against anti fun right? what is the fun to fight someone with an uncounterable sustain????

We're changing WotA so that:

  • It's not as effective at letting you heal off a minion wave (no resistances), which is particularly powerful on non mana users who pay no cost for doing so.
  • It's of similar effectiveness against enemy champions with a moderate amount of Armor/MR.
  • It's much more useful against really tanky enemy champions.
  • It's effectiveness doesn't increase dramatically as you buy Penetration, so it's baseline performance can be a bit better (less feast/famine).

I have a real problem with your statement that all non-mana users "pay no cost" for being able to heal off minion waves. Specifically in the case of Mordekaiser. To be clear - the better damage item for him is the Hextech Gunblade. But the WotA is still a legitimate item on him - in fact, I build it quite often when i'm trying to be more of an AP off-tank rather than a straight Ap carry.

Yes, he has no mana. However, his ability to push waves and sustain himself is a huge part of his power budget. Healing off of minions is a big part of how he lanes so well. He has zero cc and very little in the way of teamfighting ability, not to mention next to zero mobility (except in specific scenarios where the W can be used effectively).

Moreover, Morde has no interest in attacking tanky targets at any time - his goal is to get after the damage dealers and try to turn them into powerful ghosts.

Pretty much the only part of you points in favor of the change that really benefits Morde is the reliance on base stats rather than stacking a lot of penetration.

Basically, i understand the changes, but I also think the points you make about how it's meant to be balanced don't apply to every champ that uses it. Mordekaiser's power budget is significantly affected by these changes and the benefits don't really do much for him.

I am forced to wonder then; given that WoTA is kind of a core piece for Mordekaiser & Vlad, (Morde is generally considered pretty weak, and Vlad's considered in a good spot) will these champs be getting buffs to compensate? I mean, I Love playing Mordekaiser, but he definitely feels weak compared to a great deal of other champions.

Thank you.

As far as Vlad goes, Riot regrets ever making him, so Im sure they wouldn't mind if he became completely useless XD but, since they cant do that out of fairness, I think this is their way of kicking him to the bottom tier without wiping him from the game

You'd have to ask Xyph.

I agree that it seems rather stupid.

oh right, xyph?all clear now, the same guy who imbalanced adc in late season 4 is leading again a patch.

They're changing it to make it less snowbally. If they're ahead they're getting a bit less sustain than they would have in the past because they have less spell vamp, but if they're behind they're less behind. It makes spell vamp a more reliable stat but less powerful at its peak.
