Tank vs. burst Akali?

Which one is better? I've seen both and am honestly curious, also what would a build look like for the better one?

Build for the situation.

When fighting a Tank or certain Burst champions (typically Assassins), go Tank.

When fighting a DPS or other Burst champions (typically Mages), go Burst.

Both builds do a particular job. Build for that job when you can.

Would the builds look like this?

Tank: Banshee's, Thornmail, Titanic, IBG, Merc treads, Warmog's

Burst: Rylai's, Protobelt, Hextech gunblade, Luden's, Void Staff, Sorcerer's shoes

Do these work or are they incorrect but got the right idea?

Also what summoner spells would top lane Akali use?

Build for the situation.

Basically this.

Personally I'm super biased towards the Sunfire - Spirit Visage - Titanic combo, but if you want to pick up any given Fighter, learning how to build on the fly is a super important skill for success. Some games you'll have no problem sticking to people and Sunfire would suffice as an Armor item. Other games you'll need IBG's or even Rylai's slow. Spirit Visage has way more synergy with Akali's kit but Banshee's is godsend against champs like Blitzcrank or Morgana. Warmog's is great if you understand how to execute good rotations but doesn't offer as much combat power as any other item you can buy. It reeeeaaaally just comes down to figuring out what you need and when to get it.

I'd also recommend extremely heavily against Protobelt.

Well how would a burst build look? Would I swap Protobelt with Rabadon's?

The core is typically Gunblade, Shoes, Zhonya's, Rabadon's, Void Staff.
