Nerf Irelia

This champion has been nerfed so many times that it ended up creating a meme out of it but she has probably warranted all of those nerfs. I groan whenever I have to play against her but I'm like whatever just don't feed against her like you would against anyone else and I should be fine. It was a normal game and the person playing Irelia was clearly new to her as I laned against her. I ended up getting 2 solo kills, 2 levels ahead, and a noticeable CS advantage. Yet even though I was level 11 and she level 9. She was able to just dash at me, stun me, and proceed to auto attack me with her true damage on and out DPS me. I was furious at that moment considering all the advantage I had build up basically meaning absolutely nothing. It wasn't even an outplay, I was just overwhelmed by raw damage output. I was Vladimir in that game so when she dashed at me I ulted, empowered Q her, pool, and used my E and she still won the trade by a significant amount without even using her ultimate. We were both itemizing for each other as well. She had a hex drinker and Trinity Force to my Zhonyas, both components of Spirit Visage and tier 1 boots.

What I want to see nerfed on this champion.

  1. Her true damage or whatever is he main source of damage needs to scale slower or just be lower.

  2. Make the time length of the stun depend on the difference of percent health between her and the champion she is attempting to stun instead of a flat 2 second stun.

or you could just build smarter? Her damage actually isn't that good. If anything its just triforce really

this is a terrible idea that would make irelia less healthy and less predictable.

Also its not a flat 2 seconds until later in the game unless she maxed E and lost much of her damage overtime. Even then its not until level 9.

how exactly would I itemize better... I had build armor and HP. Full tank Vlad sucks ass and I need to be a damage threat. How is having her stun depend on percent HP difference unpredictable? You can distinguish the HP difference just by looking at the health bars. Oh hey my HP is significantly higher than hers, I should be careful of her stun.

  1. Vlad does not have to be a damage threat
  2. you can sustain more by getting tenacity to reduce 2 seconds to 1.3 seconds and for the most part irelia is not going to be leveling E first and actually dealing tons of damage unless you are fucking up royally
  3. just get hp, her damage is a mix of true damage and attack speed earlyon. If youre playing vlad get hp, attack speed slows, and AP to help you heal more after her harass. You don't need to be a damage threat, you just need to have enough to do anything though in vlads case some damage would help you anyways since his defense scales with offense in both sustain and tankyness
  4. Yes, its unpredictable (for some people) but your idea would only make it EVEN WORSE

Vlad doesn't have to be a damage threat, but that also means I have to rely on my teammates to know what they are doing. Point 2 and 3 are basically support for reason 1. In an ideal game yah this would be the better idea and choice but this all assuming my teammates aren't monkeys which is just a coin flip. Having a stun duration scale with percent health difference is not really unpredictable, you don't even give reasons why. Not only is it a good idea it actually means there is a risk/reward that comes with the longer stun. The lower your health, the risker the chance of getting all in on, but at the same time more potential for outplay. Instead of I have a little bit less health than you, so I'm going for a full rotation than running away with little counter play.

At the end of the day, if you can't depend on your teammates vlad is a terrible pick. Period.

You have options, irelia is not the problem here. She is a problem but she isn't yours. A lot of champs would do the same thing to you. The answer to sustain champs is aggression. If you go full tank and that doesn't help you get aggressive then you just fucked yourself. Same thing with irelia.

Its possible to do well simply because you gave up your farm to force someone else not to farm. Some lower elos do this without thinking and it works out for them against champs like vlad or irelia for the same reason. You get your damage, you farm fast when you can but otherwise you just stay as aggressive as crap.

On vlad that means AP > HP > CDR > move speed

getting enough damage to be a damage threat however is not a priority on vlad vs irelia once she's gained the upper hand. She will kill you if you let her. Going full tank isn't enough you cant just beat her by being a brick wall. You've got to be a solid cement wall specifically with a specific and well thought out foundation with a little hole to shoot your cannonballs out of it at the attackers.

Did you even read my original post? I had basically every advantage in lane and she still out damaged me. How is it balanced that a champion I had a gold and level lead on was able to straight up out DPS me by a significant amount? Not outplay, just raw DPS. Her threat level to me shouldn't even have been even close to serious by that point.

Did you read my post?

YOU WERE PLAYING FUCKING VLAD

irelia is going to out damage you, a lot of champs are going to outdamage you

and you're going to stfu and take it like a good vlad because that's how vlad works.

Yah some champs might, if EVEN. But I guess it's dumb of me to think they when I'm ahead of my laner in gold and experience that I should be the threat instead of the other way around. Makes sense.

Have you thought of working for Riot's balance department? You would make a great fit there.

no its dumb of you not to realize that the special case here is not them but you, youre the one playing vlad. Your advantage is illgotten gains from a toxic kit designed specifically to have its ups and downs.

Its not a special case for Vlad, his windows of power are pretty clear and telegraphed combined with a weak early game. Vlad is just like any champion that gets ahead, strong and usually requiring at least 2 to bring down. Yet Irelia is one of the few champions currently that can match or surpass the enemy laners damage even when playing from behind. Not only is she one of the hardest snowballing champions but even from behind her power can match that of laner who is ahead. If your looking for criteria of what makes a toxic kit, I would throw that high on your list.

Meh, they should just change her ult to something else. A champion like her that is "a ball of stats" shouldnt get sustain from her W AND her R. I actually wouldnt be surprised if she was in their sights as a rework as I believe they stated at one point its hard to balance her because shes a "ball of stats". IMO she plays like an assassin so she should be forced to build damage rather than build tri force then full tank your entire team.

Look this way, does she have more than 51% winrate? No, then she is balanced if she was broken she would have 56% winrate like Sona.
