I already know and are Anti-Assassin Champions. Who else is there? Im on the fence about if and but im thinking they could be too.

I'd make a contention for Soraka because of her AoE silence that can interrupt a lot of burst patterns and procide a window for your team to react and collapse. Her heal spam also contributes to kill denial, so yeah.

if you search for champs that counter assasins in midlane: Annie insta stun and massive harras vs melees in lane Chogath insta silence, nomnomnom, tanky, great sustain, nearly impossible to loose a lane with him, but he becomes less powerfull later on. Galio quite hard target to kill, great poke and waveclear, massive impact in teamfights if used well Morgana vs ap-assasins, an early second pint into black shield makes it impossible for them to all-in Darius Want to bully around some melees i lane? Just has a similar problem to cho by falling off later on.

for meta champs, Cho is your best bet (I can see this has been covered but it's worth saying several times.) Swain, rammus, mundo, gnar, and cass also deserve some mention here.

basically champs with good zone control and can punish when they try to engage Heimerdinger , maybe Syndra silences and hard cc Chogath , Fiddlesticks high dmg and sustain Kayle ,

Bruisers are generally my favorite counter, but certain utility mages work too (Orianna is a decent one).

anti-assassin picks: garen, chogath, (like the first post says, any tank or almost any tank), Ryze is pretty good because of his W and spam(but idk since his reworked numbers)

gangplank is kind of nice, he can even play mid, but it's not too recommended.

Galio (also a tank but he's mostly a mage, he counters mages and assassins and carries, but he's fairly limited)

tryndamere can outduel the assassins but (shrug)

vladimir is decent, but not perfect

overall, it's player preference

Chogath Out-damages a lot of champs early game, and is very tanky Karma Assassin tries to engage on you? W-Ult-Q and watch them cry. Annie STUNS AND BURST FOR DAYSSSSS Heimerdinger Really good zoning, and quite bursty Kayle High sustain Riven Take her mid and she counters a ton of meta assassins.

I disagree with everyone saying tanks counter assassins. They don't counter assassins, they just don't get killed by assassins. They're not weak to them but they're not actively strong against them except in teamfights.

The real counters to assassins, outside of specific people who excel against them like Lissandra Malzahar Annie , are bruisers, because they can't be blown up but they CAN blow the assassin up.

Chogath is an amazing example because even when he's built with a heavy focus on AP he is far from squishy because of his ultimate. His crowd control is also very powerful and very easy to land when he's dived on, yet his abilities do a ton of damage. Cho also has great lane sustain and given most assassins have poor laning phases, he can't be bullied out. Amazing counterpick.

Swain Once you get a couple of items you are just a walking, slow death to an assassin. Engaging on a Swain becomes suicide.

Diana Bit iffy but with the relevant bruisery items (ROA + Abyssal or Zhonya's depending on matchup), your shield and innate bulk gives you enough to be unburstable. At the same time your own burst is absolutely insane because Diana's damage is ridiculous, so an assassin trying to kill you is just a free engage, particularly as your Q becomes basically unmissable.

Morgana is nice too, though mostly against AP assassins. Her Black Shield is massive against them and can save her against any CC they have for the ones with a bit more utility. Generally an assassin diving on her is a free Q land, which will do a lot with her W. Morgana also has natural synergy with Zhonya's so she can counterbuild for someone like Zed while also getting an item that's particularly effective on her, and the time in stasis means she can safely use her ultimate on assassins in general.

EDIT: saw someone else mention Cass, great example. Strong laning phase and her ultimate is one of the best counter-engage abilities in the entire game. Tricky against Zed because of his juking but fantastic against people like Akali, Yasuo.

When people say "Tanks counter assassins" they don't mean that Tanks will kill Assassins, or that they are specifically strong against them. They mean that Tanks are good at preventing assassins from doing their job - and usually while staying alive.

That said, one of the best ways to do that is via CC, which tanks tend to have more of. Hence the correlation. For example, Shen's Ultimate can provide a large chunk of health to keep the assassin's target alive, and his Taunt can CC them long enough for the carry to either kill the assassin or escape.

High knockbacks, revives, silences, invulnerability, and crazy cc makes up the champs on my list.

Mordekaiser This is what he lives for. Er... undies for? Whatever >.> But yeah, his entire kit is based around his shield and hard shoving. Most assassins will find themselves under turret quickly, and worse, Morde doesn't even take serious damage from them.
