Singed Rework Idea
Singed needs a rework. The problem with singed isn't his base stats or his ap ratios. He's completely fine in that respect. The problem is that there isn't much gameplay involved with playing singed compared to a lot of other champions. He's also a very unique champion which makes changing him in a way that gives him more gameplay even more difficult because the change needs to preserve his uniqueness while also making him more skill based as a character.
Singed has the following unique characteristics: he's a tank that's bad at initiating. he's a tank that's good at kiting. he's a low mobility champion. he fights indirectly. he relies very heavily on ground effects and positioning compared to other tanks.
Singed has the following problems that need to be resolved: he has a poor early game. his poison deals too much damage and lacks counter play. he's easily countered but lacks outplay potential. he's very stat reliant and doesn't have any skill shots, (except his glue, which is mainly just a ground effect).
The biggest change i would make to singed that i think would fix all of the problems he has while preserving all of his unique characteristics is the change i would make to his ultimate. Rather than leaving his ultimate as a simple steroid that might as well be a passive, i would make his ultimate into this:
Nitroglycerin Flask (R) Singed throws a flask of nitroglycerin into the air above where he's currently standing that lands after a short delay and explodes, dealing 185 / 240 / 295 + 70% of ap magic damage to enemies in a 300 distance unit radius and knocking them back. can store up to 3 charges of this ability. 15 second recharge time. costs 80 mana.
the reason why i think this is a good change is because it would add a lot more to his gameplay than simply running around covering the map with poison. it provides nice damage and a decent CC but requires careful timing and positioning by singed players in order to land, giving him both more playmaking potential and more counter play potential, and the fact that it can potentially be a very strong skill if used correctly allows riot to nerf other aspects of his gameplay that have less counter play, such as his slow and his poison. it preserves and exentuates a lot of his unique characteristics in the fact that it's a ground effect and in the way that it helps him kite and disrupt enemy formations while not being a very good skill for initiating. it can also synergizes well with his overall kit. it can used most effectively when enemies are chasing him, which is what he wants them to do anyways. he can also flip people into the explosions, and his mega adhesive allows him to slow enemies so that it's easier to land. it also fits with his theme really well since he's a mad chemist. what kind of mad chemist doesn't like blowing things up? it's a perfect ability for him because it enhances the unique aspects of his playstyle and gives it an element of skill without making him similar to other champions.
Other changes i would make to his kit:
instead of his passive giving him health based on the amount of mana he builds, why not make it so that a certain percentage of the damage he takes is taken to his mana instead of his health? let's say 20% of the damage he recieves is dealt to his mana pool instead of his health pool. that's almost like converting 20% of his mana into health except that it actually forces singed players to pay more attention to his mana bar, where his current passive requires absolutely no thought at all while he's playing the game and is only taken into consideration when he's buying items.
i would change his q so that it deals less damage over time and costs more mana based on the amount of ap he builds and doesn't persist when enemies move out of the poison, but i would compensate for that by giving his q percent mana regeneration when toggled off. this would make it so that he would have to be more careful about when he uses his poison and wouldn't be able to just keep it on forever like he does now, but it would also give him the ability to sustain mana better in lane overall, which is one of his early game problems. combined with the change i would make to his passive, the percent mana regeneration on his q when toggled off would also give him better health sustain, since his mana bar will be taking 20% of the damage instead of his health pool. also, i think it's necessary to remove the persistent damage in his poison simply because it would no longer be necessary because now he has 3 damage abilities instead of just 2, allowing riot to offload some of the damage of his old q onto his new ult. since his poison will no longer persist when enemies walk out of it, they'll no longer experience those incredibly annoying situations where they burn all of their abilities to escape singed only to be ignited at the last second and die from the combination of ignite and leftover poison effect. this would make him a lot more fun to play against overall and give singed's opponents a chance to feel skilled by dodging the nitroglycerin flasks he tosses out without having to worry about dying to the persistent poison effects and ignite.
