To be fair, this one is "three stacks" in the same way that Varus is "three stacks". Both have to use an ability afterwards to get anything from the stacks (technically Varus gets more without the abilities than Tahm does).

Contrast this to Vayne Gnar Ekko etc, and it's definitely not the same mechanic, just the same number.

Dear Community,

We at Riot have heard your pleas; you do not want more abilities that require multiple applications before they can be used to full effect (or used at all in some cases). So from now on, all abilities get full burst and CC potential with no gating or counterplay. You're welcome. We look forward to more community input deciding balance.

Its better than three different passives on one champion.

Oh wait...

Unlike Ekko , he only stacks using auto-attacks.

Unlike Vayne , he has no kiting potential & the mobility to stack around.

Unlike Braum , no one other than Tahm can fill the stacks.

So I don't really see how this type of passive seems to be detrimental for Tahm.

Wrong. his spells activate it as well. That said, this is a different spin in that:

  1. There is no automatic effect: three hits just opens up more powerful moves.

  2. The effect isn't consumed: once you activate it, it stays on as long so you can use it with multiple abilities.
