@Riot So I guess y'all just gave up on Galio x(

The rework got released on patch 7.6 (March 22) And you've guys just abandoned him.

Galio hasn't even see that great results in LCS so I don't know why you guys are just nerfing him. Shouldn't you be adjusting power in his kit so that he can still be successful rather than just nerfing him.

Nerfing for LCS isn't even legitimate if you look at his current results.

Galio was played to huge success in 7.12, he has a 60% winrate mid and 70% winrate top.

In 7.13 his Q got nerfed for good reason, way too much damage for a tank.

7.13 patch his winrate drops to 47% mid and 40% top lane

Stop acting like he was fine on release.

Remember that Galio is SUPPOSE to have a niche (being the anti-mage warden). But he was too strong and was pick or ban.

How about you pick Galio strategically instead of asking for buffs because ''he is weak''.

But strategy in league of legends instead of flavor of the months, what am I even saying. That would ask for too much thinking.

Lmfao. Lemme quote myself cause you're making so many assumptions.

Where did I say buff? Where did I say he was fine on release?

I also felt that 40% DR on it's own was busted as well (WW has it too but has more pronounced weaknesses). I feel like they would eventually nerf that percent down to like 30 or 20 but make it scale better with magic resistance but isntead we get this...

I really hope Riot doesn't bring these changes live, I honestly don't think they have any good context for these nerfs aside from LC$...

Hold me as I weep x(

How about you add that to your post... because saying that you ''abandonned'' him usually means something negative.

Also I'm not sure how a nerf to his early cd on his ult is ''giving up on him''. They don't want to see a second Shen probably.

And I still hold my point, he has a niche.

KoKoboto1 votes

Nah you're just misreading everything. Buff means buff. Abandoning him and giving up on him means what it means. They've stopped trying to balance Galio.

Also if you checked his winrate you would know that he is being given up on.

And I'm not arguing about his niche.

He has been (not commenting on current state) one of the strong presences in LCS since his rework. Teams made entire comps to properly use him

He has been but look at this week and last week. He's fallen out of the meta and has performed poorly in EULCS. The most played tanks are now Jarvan, Sejuani, Mao'Kai, Cho'Gath, Gragas, etc. Galio was great at the start but isn't anymore.

People don't pick him mid anymore because they need champions to deal with all the tanks. Such as Cassiopeia or Corki.

And guess what champions have a strong presence in LCS and have yet to be nerfed with significantly high winrates?

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

Enlighten me, because most of those are getting nerfs with the coming patch

First off, that isn't good enough.

Secondly, Janna has been sitting at a high winrate for a while (Idk, maybe YEARS?) along with Draven. Malzahar has a high winrate now as well.

There are a bunch of champions that need buffs now but all they are doing is nerfing them.

Acting as if Galio and Syndra needed nerfs at their low winrates. LUL

Anyone who is around 50% winrates or below doesn't need nerfs. I don't know why you would think they do.

None of those have a high presence in the LCS. You failed to answer my question, and completely ignored your original point.

Janna and Draven do not have a high presence in LCS?

I don't know what game you are playing but it clearly isn't league.

Just because they haven't been played yet in 2017 (Draven?) doesn't mean that they were not in the past. (Tyler1 anyone?)

Besides, we are only a little past halfway in 2017.

You can't pick and choose your LCS comparisons.

You cannot pick and choose how balance works either.

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

This season, no, they have barely been played. Janna not until recently, and Draven has like 5 games, at most.

When talking about current game balance in pro play, the current LCS season is all that matters. I mean, Kassadin was huge in LCS: does he need nerfs? Going by your logic he does.

Additionally, the current season is almost done, not "a little past halfway". Playoff spots are being locked in, and the worlds patch is pretty much here (I believe it might be the one after next)

As stated by Scarizard here there are many factors that play into balance decisions. One of the larger bits of Riot's balance philosophy is that balance is geared towards platinum and above play, as it is generally regarded that games below that rank have just as much power disparity from player skill and understanding as it does from actual system balance.

Sounds legit.

Idk where you got this from, but you don't seem to understand how they balance.

And that has to do with what? We are discussing pro play balance, literally the highest level of play there is. Neither Draven or Janna are a concern at that level, and the ones that are currently crowding out the meta are by the large getting nerfs on the PBE right now. What is your point?

Hey, you think Galio needs nerfs at below 48% winrate.

We get it. He's OP to you.

Meanwhile, I'll look at balance through an unbiased lens that realized you need to take into account ALL elos Plat+...

Because Riot doesn't just look at LCS. (At least they shouldn't based on what they said) They look at Plat+ when balancing. The entire Plat+ not LCS.

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

When did I ever say that?!?

I specially addressed in my original comment his previous state, as the OP had said:

Galio hasn't even see that great results in LCS

And I was correcting that notion that he hadn't ever seen success in pro play. I don't know enough about Galio to address his current balance state, and in fact, I think nerfing the damage reduction on his ult is going to far. But I do know the past, and was addressing specifically that

So I say again: what is your point?

Something Something thinks balance revolves only around LCS at one moment then doesn't touch the topic again and tries to pin blame on another party something.

[zombie-brand-clap]

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

What does that have to do with anything? You said that other champions that are staples in the LCS aren't getting nerfed. I corrected you by providing evidence to the contrary. You then said some point about how Janna and Draven, who are barely blips on the pro radar haven't been nerfed for pro play, and offered "evidence" that they should be because of either presence 3-4 seasons ago, or streamers that were never in the professional scene.

You then accuse me of calling for Galio nerfs, something I never even mentioned, and then set up a completely bogus strawman to somehow attack me?

So I ask again: what is your point?

Hes a banworthy champ at LCS, and that alone says something

KoKoboto1 votes

Not anymore amigo... Look at his most recent LCS performance in the past weeks.

People NEED high damage dealers in the mid lane and the best top laners consist of Renekton, Kled, Shen, Jarvan, Cho'Gath, Mao'Kai... champions that do well in lane and start plays. After the nerfs to his Q he is no longer played...

Galio was played to huge success in 7.12, he has a 60% winrate mid and 70% winrate top. In 7.13 his Q got nerfed for good reason, way too much damage for a tank. 7.13 patch his winrate drops to 47% mid and 40% top lane

In our current patch 7.14 he has a 43% winrate mid and 60% winrate top. HOWEVER, that top lane winrate comes from challenger LCS, and challenger LCS is farcry from actual LCS.

He is no longer pick ban.
