Why the hell is Riot obsessed with pressing and holding

Vlad's new E, Warwick's new Q and now Galio's new W. It's not an interesting mechanic (it's actually quite clunky, Warwick's Q especially has the exact same problem with autos that are just out of range that occasionally result in him just stutter freezing and stop moving entirely). Galio's W especially can and should be done with 2 clicks (it even says so in the ability description for christ sakes)

It's not exactly new, Sion's Q, Xerath's Q, Varus's Q,

It's a mechanic that's been around for a while, but not on many champions. I guess Riot decided to put more time into it

New type of thing to utilize, best to experiment around with it.

I've always liked this mechanic... I guess its personal opinion.

Simple fix - Turn off Quick Cast for that spell.

I think most people forget that QC isn't enabled by default, and causes these skills to be a single press rather than the 2 presses that the description suggests.

I think alistar has the same problem with his charge when people are just on the edge of his range.

It's fine when it's implemented well.

When it isn't? Well, you get shit like Taliyah's W.

Sion Q anyone?

I noticed this too. Whenever Riot starts working with a new thing, they tend to "press and hold" onto it for a bit. Happened with 3 hit passives, happened with anti-dash, happening now.
