Can you do it?

Can you convince me this "Season 6" champion isn't broken as all hell with the buffs she kept receiving for no reason?

I'll take a crack a it.

Countered by hard CC, her ult doesn't do anything if locked down before she can W (and if she does W she isn't hitting more than once)
Outranged, anything ranged like gnar, malphite (q), pantheon (q), quinn, vayne, jayce, yorick, annie, cho'gath, and so on can farm and poke.
Can't heal as much when ignited with grevious wounds, basically just ignite her and her ult doesn't heal much or have the adc buy a mortal reminder.
High cooldowns on most of her abilities, if she uses an ability and misses it thats the chance to go on her or hit and run.
Tentacles give CS and gold
Tentacles always reveal her position and show her doing objectives like drag and baron
No CC or any form of utility in her kit besides existing and doing AoE damage you can walk out of.

Like, illaoi is one of those champs you have to play to understand like akali or diana. They're not hard to deal with once you learn what they do.

I can think of a few counters to her if you're struggling.. Annie Chogath Heimerdinger Gnar Gangplank Fiora Malphite Olaf Pantheon Shen Yorick Trundle Swain

Whether it'd be denying her farm, using her HP against her, dealing true damage and out lifestealing her, or just blocking her attacks, all these champs can handle an aggressive illaoi and snowball her. I left out a few you don't see everyday or she can outscale but thats still a lot.

Just walk out of the ult, simple as that. She doesn't have a way to keep you in it.

Actually, Gnar, Heim, Gangplank, Fiora, Malphite, Pantheon, Shen, and Swain are all pretty decent matchups.

New ryze I'm not sure, seems like a good pick on paper but we never actually seen his overall damage scaling, if he does enough.

Veigar top is kinda risky, when you pick it you have to win lane, which is often in veigar's case, jungle reliant. (Get camped, get stomped)

Zyra in top lane is a new one to me, same for xeraph.

Darius is ok but illaoi has more LS than him since her ulti makes her heal for each tentacle that hits while dari only has the tip of his Q.

Otherwise yea they're pretty good picks. It depends on who can outplay her (walk out of the ulti).

I play Illaoi Top & Mid.

At the time of comment, it was meant for pre-6.14 ryze. however, New ryze might work. gonna try it out

Veigar on the team in general is a good counterpick. Doesnt need to be top lane, although thats what i do anyway if someone picked Illaoi before me. Veigars ult is the reason why you pick him because its a near-instant cast with good range. Just target illaoi with your combo in the teamfight and just toss the Primordial burst when she ults. usually she dies before she can heal from her ult.

Xerath and Zyra is STUPIDLY annoying. Even after building MR. The Issue is that Zyra's plants with thunderlord create a large amount of burst (half my health usually) while rooting me in place. The plants seem to be more difficult to kill immediately than Heim's turrets although they only last a few seconds (can't W/Q them away to lower the burst damage). Your Leap of faith however, can be timed to counter Zyra's ult but it takes some practice if youre not used to it. Xerath on the other hand, just out ranges you while having significant CC. Once you get close to Either zyra or zerath, you can smacs them real well. but usually getting to them is the nuisance.

step 3: force yourself out of the champion you wantd to pick and pick someone with a low-cd gapcloser/escape + high base movement speed to dodge tons of tentacles with huge hitboxes that deal % health damage being used by a champ who stacks health instead of damage.

I was like 10/0 as illioa, for some fun I let my top laner chip my already tanky build down to around 250 hp, I then activated ult and killed him in only a few seconds, just that fight brought me back to full health, then their jungler came in, I kill him too and I was still at 100%

TL;DR version

I stomped the living shit out of someone who was doing bad for a game so when I stomped other people after being fed on a champion who does well at carrying, I have come to the discesion it's over powered. Lets nerf Yi and Vayne next.

EDIT: Just as an added thought, Nasus and Vlad are pretty good counters to her. I play her as my top main and both champs trash me pretty consistently.
