Semi-Annual Reminder that Karthus' ult quote needs to be heard globally.

I'd rather listen to "HEAR ME MORTALS" than "TO OUR SIDE" from across the map.

The buff Karthus truly needs.

The one excuse I've continually heard is that making Karthus's quote global would somehow contribute to global quote creep, but that excuse has become increasingly flimsy at a time when a whole bunch of champions are given global quotes for abilities that are not even global. We don't need to hear Kalista literally across the entire map every time she bonds with a champion or presses R, nor do we need to hear Quinn call Valor when she decides to mount up in another lane. If Riot truly wants to address global quote creep, they should start by cutting out the useless noise generated by a great deal many existing abilities, whose influence isn't global, but in Karthus's case, his global ult already has a distinct visual and even audio cue, so superimposing his powerful voice on top is a no-brainer, one likely to have minimum negative impact for the tremendous joy and terror it would induce.

I do believe the Quinn global is useful just because of how quick and easy it is for her to roam using her ult. Completely agree about Kalista though

From what I've heard in the past, it's also because some of his lines are wayyyy to long to be heard globaly in other languages.

Although that does raise the question: Why not just select a couple of his shortest lines to use then?

Teridax681 votes

Indeed, if the issue is that his lines are too long in some languages, then they need to be shortened. This in itself raises the question as to why exactly Karthus would receive such excessively long lines, when they're meant to accompany a channel that lasts no longer than 3 seconds. It would likely be better to prioritize shorter quotes, even if their meaning changes slightly in the process, than to keep them in their current state, if that's the only thing stopping Karthus's ult quotes from being global.

"Dont need to hear Quinn call for Valor" ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT FRIEND ;;:o

I mean, at the end of the day, when Quinn calls for Valor, she's basically just giving herself a large movement speed boost. Because this boost can have potentially infinite duration, has an ultra-low cooldown and can be used to take her in any direction, whether or not Quinn is mounting up gives very little real information to someone on a different side of the map. The very existence of Quinn in the game means that she could swoop up near them at any moment post-6, just like Eve's existence means that she can do the same with her camouflage (except Eve doesn't give out a global quote every time she enters stealth). As such, a global quote adds no new information of real value, and because Quinn's mount can be used so frequently, it's a major contributor to global quote creep.

Yes, if they can make MF and Veigar cackle when they ult, they can make Karthus' voice lines global.

The sound when you flip a page in his book through one of the CTRL actions (can't remember which one) is global.

Or atleast team wide.

Love playing Karthus with my friends.

Yeah that would be cool and if people really find it annoying make muting karthus muting the global quote too

I think k riot should start from fixing karthus bug that basically cuts his DMG by half instead.

Melledoneus4 votes

Which bug is that?

T4underbolt1 votes

The one that makes your Q cooldown 2 seconds instead of 1. The bug is there for 3 years. I reported it 3 times in the past by ticket and repetedly on the forums and later in boards. Nothing was done. Karthus Q feels clunky to use since then.

Meep Man1 votes

I haven't come across this bug while playing him. How rare is it?

T4underbolt1 votes

Its not how rare. Just look at the cooldown of Q when you use it. It is actually counting down from 2. And I've been playing karthus since late s3. I remember how his Q used to feel and now it is defenitely clunky and slow. My ping is fine (40~), my fps are fine. It's not related to technical issues. Its simply a 2 seconds cd instead of 1 second. It happened in s5 when new map was introduced. In one of the patches Q broke and was having 2 seconds cooldown since then. I couldnt hit my Qs for sht. I reported this repetedly on forums and through a ticket but no response from riot aside of automated ones.

It should spam his scream right before when you /dance for the entire duration of the ult. Find a counterplay to this.

otakoteep1 votes

Bah. Why not just the pentakill lines.

"MY SON~G. SMITE THEM ALL"

"EVERYONE WILL FALTER WHEN YOU DIE"

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

Issues with the length of the quote and the differences in other languages is what prevents them from doing this.

Melledoneus1 votes

I would agree if Kalista didn't already do this.
