Why isn't Galio's W canceled by CC?

I mean, it's just as strong as a Sion Q, stronger even because it's only dodgable by backing away, not side stepping. Yet Sion's Q is canceled by any stray stun or knock up. Sion's Q also can't be instant casted.

Yes they're different abilities, but they serve the same purpose - picks and teamfight disruption.

Sion's does massive damage. It's also a better CC.

Sion's is longer and deals a lot more damage.

The basic counterplay to Galio's W is to get away from it. If you could cancel it with hard CC then that would encourage you to get closer which is what Galio wants.

It wouldn't work well.
