New Grading system

So just about everyone who plays pays attention to the grading system in League. I mean, who doesn't enjoy the thrill of getting an S? (If you're one of the people who says 'Whats the big deal about ANOTHER S?', I hate you. Passively.)

It occurs to me that the grading system is based on an average of ALL players on the server you're playing on - but you aren't playing against the entire server, just 5 of them, and only one other person in the role you're in. So why not grade it by JUST position and give each position their own stats (openly please Riot) to be graded on? Why should supports be graded on kills? Why are jungle supports a thing (Junglers who help kill enemies instead of just doing it themselves?!!)? How are they expected to earn an S without _K_ill _S_tealing (Securing)?

This is why we see these HUGE swings from certain champs as to WHERE they can play (that and skill changes and reworks...). Look at Brand for example. With his new(-ish) passive, he's a really good counter to any beefy top laner, can jungle if built correctly, can go mid affectively, support with his DOT and stun, and even APC with his AA semi-effectively. Now look at Soraka. She stuck in pretty much one role...or is she? I've seen her played in every position for a win.

But that's AP - what about AD? Well, any marksman works just about in any role as well, so next up, assassins. HA. Again, just about every role. Now here's the kicker - all you people whining about tank meta this and that, tanks get TWO roles. TWO. Top and support. It's rare to see a jungle tank work out these days, except for the occassional Cho'gath or Amumu. All the others are stopped by ANY CC, and couldn't normally out damage a flea let alone the 4 carries on their team. Except Illaoi. We don't talk about Illaoi.

So how do you really round out grading accurately? (Thought I forgot the original intent of the post for a second there, didn't you?) With a point system for relevant stats. Kind of like an MVP system. The number of stats they track for this game are enormous, but which ones are important? I think the grading should be based on which stats are important for obtaining a win.

These are: Kills, CS, Objective takedowns, and assists, right? But something is missing - presence. Participation. But that's covered by assists right? Nope. If you don't damage the enemy before they die, no assist. So you miss out, even though you helped in some way, like CCing the support so the dmg could get to the target. Which currently makes the basic rule of League 'if you want to score points, you need to hit things' rather than 'Teamwork wins games'.

How do you track participation? Just said it. Track participation. Not just assists, but scores like CC, turret damage, champion damage, vision, inhibitor takedowns, tower and inhibitor and dragon and baron and jungle camp assists (without nerfing jungler exp k thx). My team won a game recently not because I was doing damage as Nautilus as support, but because I chased the enemy Teemo who was carrying through the jungle playing tag while my team stomped his base. Lots of honor, no grade.

It's a computer. It can handle more numbers. You just have to write out the math one time. ONCE. And stop comparing us to the whole server Riot. How'd I do in JUST MY GAME? We won because I went 30/1/5 and got an A+ (I wish but I've seen it happen)? Explain?

TL:DR - The grading system can be as complex or as simple as desired, someone isn't doing the math, and/or the right numbers aren't being used. Why should a bronze player be compared to the entire server? How much does it suck to get an S only to realize that your S in Bronze is an S in Challenger too, but it's who you're against that decided the score, not Challenger?

"It occurs to me that the grading system is based on an average of ALL players on the server you're playing on - " Here's the thing... It isn't. I skimmed through this and you are proposing like a worse version of what's already in place, believing that nobody thought about and worked on the system.

That's the actual problem though. They really haven't thought about it, or the grading would be nearly even across all roles. If you have one S on the team, you should see an A/B player or two, a solid C, and maybe a D unless it's a royal stompfest. The enemy team should end up roughly the same. Even on a team that lost a game 40-10, you're telling me that the 5/0/5 player doesn't deserve an S? Pretty sure (from what I've seen since the end of season 5 when I started) that if you lose it's a lot harder to get an S.

It also still seems to be based entirely on KDA, CS, and now vision (which still didn't get many people to play more wards). But that's not all there is to a game, and I feel that that other stuff should get recognized in the scoring/grading system. If I go 0/0/21 as support I get a B+ but with the same champ go 2/0/4 and get an S? That B+ to me should be switched with the S - I'm playing support, where my JOB is to get assists and feed my carry. See the issue?
