How to climb ranks in Dynamic Queue: a guide by FCJAAAAGOOOO

Players don't often fully understand ranked play.

League of Legends, just like any successful competitive game, has been designed at least partly around playing to win. While winning at lower ranks only requires general competence, winning games at higher ranks demands focus. There's a lot that demands paying attention to; if that scares you, don't waste your time in ranked. This guide is not for you and this game mode is not for you. Ranked is not something to be played as a timekiller - you have a goal and that goal is to become as good as possible with some champions and some roles in League of Legends. That is the only thing ranked play rewards players for. It will actually help your social life, not hurt it, if you get good enough at anything - let alone a game.

The game is not as fun as it could be. The game has been watered down in more ways than one. Videogamedunkey made a very noteworthy video on Youtube regarding how much the game has changed, often for worse than for better. But League of Legends is still a titan of a game that deserves respect. Koreans don't just earn millions in tournament winnings consistently because they play it for fun, and money isn't the only thing those people earn either. They treat it as a sport, as it's treated as a sport by some others. If you can't treat this game a sport then ranked play is not for you.

Don't let what people say about dynamic queue fool you: this game mode can be worth playing on your own, just like it can possibly not be worth playing with others. If one person climbs ranks in dynamic queue it means they played well as a teammate in a team game. If multiple people climb ranks together in dynamic queue it means they played well as teammates in a team game. There is no advantage or disadvantage for any certain size of a group of players in dynamic queue.

0.) Play Only Two Roles And At Least 3 Champions In Each Of Those Roles

This is a must before even touching ranked play: get to know some roles, and get to know some champions in those roles. Make sure that these champions aren't all picked or banned often, and if a role you play isn't botlane make sure at least one of your champions for that role is AP. Play champions with the intention of familiarizing yourself with their kits, and don't be whimsical about who you play as - if you're flaky, ranked is not for you.

1.) Play The Meta, Don't Enforce It

Play how you know you can earn wins. Be able to explain how your pick can win games to yourself. The meta isn't what everyone plays or a select few plays; it's what wins games. Don't expect others to play certain champions either, just trust that they can play their role just as well as you can play yours.

2.) Avoid Talkative Groups

If you see people talking in chat a lot or posting their group in discord and insisting that you join them, don't let them fool you - they're distracting themselves from the game at hand. Leave the game before it starts; it's most likely a waste of your time. They'll most likely be communicating at points in the game when they should be paying more attention to what's going on.

3.) Set Apart Time for the Climb (But Not Too Much)

Playing multiple games enforces confidence in your roles and your picks. Don't play just one game a day, but don't play nonstop either (unless you make a successful stream of it of course). Playing this game consistently well involves much more pre-understanding than it does effort.

4.) You Cannot Avoid Some Wins (And Some Losses)

There are some games you'll inevitably win or lose, regardless of your input. You'll avoid some of those losses by queue dodging talkative groups but there are some games where fellow teammates will make bad decisions no matter how many times you ping. No one is going to change how they play in the middle of a match. People get a kick out of trying to make a point of it; perhaps you've played normal games with them before. They're also in ranked. Input regarding them doesn't matter. Your wins will always mean more than their losses.

5.) Play To Earn Wins Or Don't Play

If you've played a ranked game before, you know what it takes to earn wins. Think of it as fishing, and the fish you're trying to catch are wins. Do you fish in the puddle or the lake? Do you choose your bait for the fish you're catching or some other fish in Timbuktu? Do you not put any bait on your hook at all and just hope that a fish happens to catch itself? No. There are methods, and the best method for the game at hand will be different depending on the game at hand. If you're against an all AD team and you don't buy armor you're asking for a loss. If you're far into your lane and a good ganker is missing you're asking for a loss. No win or loss is an enigmas: there's always a good explanation for it. They might fall from the sky, but that's because someone threw it. Ha.

That's it and that's all! If you read any of this guide with the intention of playing ranked then best of luck to you! Guides on champions will always change; guides like this will never change and will always be helpful. If you follow all of these steps you will be proud of your wins and you will enjoy ranked play. In fact, the whole point of ranked play: not to win, but to be proud of what you put into it. If you can be proud of playing a game well, then ranked is in fact for you!

You can play Galio for all I care so long as you can earn wins with him. Even champions like Urgot aren't completely unviable.

Maybe don't consider Mordekaiser for now.
