Champs: What's fun to play against? Part #1 (Udyr)

I'm sure many times throughout your time on the rift you've called a champion op, even if you know they're not exactly "op", you're just having a rough time or something. (or you're being outplayed etc, you get the idea) I've been thinking lately, it's less about that and it's more like.. Wow, this isn't fun at all to play against. This play is having fun doing the same thing over and over again in my face, and the only thing I can do is try to kite around or avoid this one skillshot? Why is that fun? I feel like this is more what I mean when I say a champion is op. Not that they're doing a lot of damage to me, but it's what my options are when I'm faced against them, regardless of the champion/lame I am.

I'll start with Udyr. I can not begin to describe how many times I have been mauled to death by this champion cursing his name and harming the ears of nearby children. While his early game ganks are pretty avoidable, assuming he ganks at all, his late game "AFK in Jungle till I'm fat/Push Till GG" playstyle is not fun to play against and kinda boring to have on the team. When he does teamfight he just runs right through the line regardless of cc because of his typical builds including Tenacity. Even if you do manage to peel perfectly for your carries in the back, the opp carry is left to just do as they please to your team. Or better yet, when he can just run away because of Bear Forms absolutely unbearable free mobility. This leaves me, the victim, feeling helpless and frankly annoyed. I can't see why that's okay. "He has no gap-closers". Unless you wish to count a few ults like Sions and stuns like Tarics, quite a few champions in League don't have a gap closer and function just fine. Most of those champions also feel really nice to play against. I'll use Sion against since I already brought him up.. His ult is pretty satisfying both to use and play against. He can use it to escape, but it's on his ult, stoppable, huge cooldown because it's on his ult, and if he uses it to get to you, it's very avoidable depending on where You and He are. Udyr's wave clear is also pretty insane thanks to Phoenix and Tiger form. He can just AFK push lanes and run away when he's caught with Bear's mobility/stun. We have all been there and experienced this. Is it fun? Are you actually having fun playing against this? Notice how I'm not saying he's op. I'm entirely just saying he is not fun to play with or against. Personally, I would love to see some sort of weakness. I would love to see Bear form get turned into a glorified Vayne passive. "Udyr only gets the speed buff when approaching an enemy within (some amount of) range. Duration of 1.5 seconds." Or something like that. This means he can no longer just SPAM the hell out of Bear to get in and our of sticky situations. He's be sorta like Diana in this sense where once she's in, she's in to see the end of the fight basically. (Now we wait for the Trick2G fans/I mained Udyr waayyy before him people to swarm)

I'll start up another one some time later, I just want some feedback on this. What else do you think simply isn't fun to play against. Please do not just BM here. If you're going to reply, please be analytic in even the smallest amount. Remember, there's a difference from OP and not fun.

I feel the same way. Champions like Gangplank, for example, Who is just going to spam his one ability to do a ridiculous amount of damage to you can not be fun to play for me, and I don't see how anyone could find them fun to play at all. I feel like this game has gone more from "who has the best strategy" to "who can do the most amount of damage in the shortest amount of time".

So you're telling me that you're having trouble with a champion that has no ranged abilities whatsoever, and relies entirely on auto-attacks to do his damage? Teemo Quinn Jax Fiora Pantheon Azir Annie Ashe Anivia DrMundo Kennen Kalista Rammus Vayne Xerath Singed item 3143 item 3075 item 3165 item 3023 item 3140 item 3139 item 3111 item 3022

I played Udyr when I first joined League of Legends, I didn't know who Trick2g was until people all started talking about him and his Udyr gameplay. Udyr isn't anything difficult to deal with so long as you keep things warded and you remember he's melee only and moves very fast. If he's AP, get MR, if he's AD, get a thornmail and Randuins and laugh if you're AP, well you're going to have to play it safe, that's just how it goes, it's a team game for a reason.
